SYL played about 35 minutes. The older ones they played were Velvet Kevorkian, All Hail The New Flesh and In The Rainy Season.
those are short sets. how many bands wound up playing? or did FF just play for a long time?
Someone told me Fear Factory played an hour and a half.
that's a long time
About an hour and a half too long.

Soul of a New Machine was good, but that's the last one I could get into.

I actually thought Demanufacture was incredible (songwriting, production, electronics/atmosphere). A good example of a band firing on all cylinders (and completely avoiding the sophomore jinx). I still like the songs on Soul... better, but as far as appreciating an album for what it is, Demanufacture is art. Unfortunately, after that album (or, really, with that album) they became Formula Factory...

Nahh, I think they 'jumped the shark' a bit after Obsolete, which is one of my favorite CDs ever. (Demanufacture is also great.)

FF played until about 12:30, but they finished a bit early; they were scheduled to end at 12:35.

All the bands were excellent. Darkane had muddy sound but were otherwise great, SYL ruled as usual (Gene Hoglan is truly amazing, and a nice guy too), Soilwork were great -- even though their nu-er stuff isn't all that good, their set was good -- and FF were excellent.

Thanks to Devin Townsend and Tracy for the hookup, and thanks to Heather from Century Media for the photo-pass.

Great seeing some of y'all there!

Holly, we were wondering where you were. I kept looking for you, Mike and Greg.

I didn't go because the only band I'd have wanted to see was SYL, and when I heard they'd only be on for like 4 songs it wasn't worth it.

Fear Factory's first two albums were good, Obsolete was about 50/50 good stuff and horsecrap, Digimortal was a fucking nu-metal trainwreck of an album, and they haven't really been able to recapture the old magic with their newer stuff. Digimortal was quite possibly the most disappointed I've ever been with an album I've bought my whole life.

Dang.... Darkane were good. Nice guys, too. Picked up a t-shirt, and their new CD -- for $13. Also couldn't resist an SYL zippered hoodie for $40, which isn't a terrible price for a tour hoodie. (Besides, I figured I owed Devy and co.)

Word for word. It's right up there with the self titled album by the artists formerly known as Metallica.

At least they played Acres of Skin, which is (imho) the sole survivor of said train wreck.
