I don't know if I'm late to this, but I just heard a new song, "Hellish Mercenary," and it's pretty sweet. I kinda get a Venom-esue Show No Mercy vibe and a brutal German thrash vibe ala Sodom and Destruction simultaneously.

Good point. It wasn't intentionally that genre, in contrast to bands that nowadays set out to be "above and beyond" whatever genre influenced them...or whatever the fuck it is that they do. Eh... I don't know if that's necessarily true. I don't think that most "post-metal" bands today play post-met...

Yeah, I'm seconding this evaluation. Bukowski is fun if you like to look at how easy it is to turn your life into a perpetual downward spiral. That black abyss is always calling. In high school I read all this stuff. It's been ages since I read anything particularly beat or gonzo, but here's a few ...

Yeah. All right, tthanks, I'll check those out, though I'm not sure if your description of their writing style as "buttpee" is positive or negative... :?

I've been reading a lot Jack Kerouac lately. I first started reading On the Road like a month ago, but it's soooo good. I love that 'spontaneous prose' style. I also liked And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks a lot, which was co-written by Kerouac and William Burroughs, so I picked up Queer by ...

IPAs are kinda hard to get into and start with but I love them now. Hop Czar is decent and that Hop Devil might have been old. Check the dates on your IPAs (some don't have dates though) because hops fade and it could be really old (3+ months = not good) and could taste like shit. But some people j...

I'm still just getting a feel for all the different styles of beer by going to Publix/kroger/whole foods and getting the 10$ custom six pack - I usually just pick stuff at random. Recently, I've had Hop Czar and HopDevil ale, which are both IPAs. Well, now I know that I hate IPAS (and Pale Ales in g...

Enabler?

Is anyone into Enabler? Metal/hardcore band on Southern Lord. They're looking for a date on Oct 25. They're playing in Columbia the day before and Nashville the day after.

If not, someone please tell me how I'd go about booking them. All the steps, etc. I've never done this before.
