I'd assumed this was all tongue-in-cheek, but I can see how it could be interpreted differently outside of our little micro-scene. While I don't think anyone here is putting Atlanta anywhere near something like the NYDM deal, others might not get the joke. So I suppose the next question is: do we ca...

I was brushing up on my Atlanta history by way of wikipedia, and I learned that in the mid-nineteenth century, between being called Terminus and Marthasville, the city was known as Thrasherville. THRASHERVILLE. Somehow that doesn't sound as cool as it should, and probably would look like a hockey (o...

Oh hells yes, that's spiffy, and you took care of the problem I noticed after my last post: A and L are the least symmetrical letters to begin and end a logo with. Now we just have to fit ~The City Too Busy to Hate~ onto there. And maybe the image of a boiling radiator to signify our swiftly moving ...

This is a good idea, and I like the example above, but is there a way to screw with the perspective to make the cross look more like a "t"? Like ... raising it up in relation to the other two letters, and maybe gathering the tops of all the letters together so that they all appear to be radiating do...

Just bought this seemingly dinky little thing a couple weeks ago, and first of all, if you need a mini component system for a bedroom, office, weight room, kids' room, whatever, I wholeheartedly endorse it -- especially if you do what I did and follow it on Amazon til it drops below $200. Now most o...

You're just missing some March Violets in that playlist. As a matter of fact, they and the Virgin Prunes are on their way from Amazon as we speak. Having a personal goth revival here. wienerdammerung.jpg I have to know what the photographer's directions were during this shoot. And speaking of thing...

Naked City - Black Box For years I blew this off as noise for noise's sake, but after listening to it for the first time and with low expectations, I gotta say there's something hypnotic and ... weirdly coherent about it. I'm sure the neighbors think I'm chopping up bodies to this, however. Bauhaus...

Sometimes I wonder what profundities could be occupying the space in my brain that thanks to WREKage is taken up by the lyrics to "Roll Out the Barrel of Farts."

WREKage at the moment, specifically Tim's Megadeth CD skipping. Lord I implore thee let this happen to his Prong CD as well. Other than that, I've been on a prog kick lately for reasons I don't yet understand. Genesis, Nektar, Strawbs, Renaissance, King Crimson, Nik Turner solo stuff, and some Kraut...

Boy did my eyebrows ratchet up when I wrongly assumed Noisem was a misspelling of Noism, but nope, turns out to be another death thrash band I'd never heard of.

And I seriously had no idea Impaled even existed anymore. They were awesome and fun. Are they still awesome and fun?

Yeah, Vehemence is cool, but they really needed to have cut like every one of their God Was Created songs in half. Them and Vital Remains -- it's like they play a good song for 3 or 4 minutes, then just go back and do it all over again to end up with a 6-8 minute track. It mystifies me. That comp ar...

But does Jesus look like Obama? Wut? There's a silly hullaballoo over the History Channel's The Bible miniseries; the actor portraying Lucifer is said to bear a resemblance to Pres. Obama. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/18/the-bible-satan-obama_n_2900509.html?utm_hp_ref=entertainment http://...

Cult of Fire I meant to bring up these guys in my last post, as I had them, coincidentally, on the same list I'd jotted down Svartidaudi. Unless I'm not exposed to wide enough of a swath of the online metal community, it's bizarre that I'm hearing so little about Triumvirat. As soon as that first b...
