Wow.

Bal-Sagoth have finally met their match. :)

(And damnit, they're playing this weekend, maybe right now, at Heathen Crusade in the frozen impaled moonforests of Minnesota...)

What cracks me up the most is how so many black metal bands/musicians borrow names from Tolkien. Examples include Varg Vikernes' stage name 'Count Grishnackh', which is a reference to an orc in Lord of the Rings, and Gorgoroth, which is another name for Mount Doom.

I guess it all goes back to Greg's D&D statement.

Amon Amarth, Ephel Duath, ....hell, let me grab a Middle Earth map and we'll find loads more. :) (Aside from Cirith Ungol, etc.)

There's seriously a band called Sauron? That's not even trying.

Yep, Gorgoroth is the plateau in Mordor between the pass of Cirith Ungol and Barad-Dur, where Sauron's forces massed at the end of Return of the King. It isn't a name for Mount Doom....but as I mentioned on WREKage last night, Amon Amarth is "Mount Doom" in Sindarin Elvish.
