I listened to the new one this week and it really is better than "Reroute to Remain" and "Countdown to Your Escape." I've been a big fan of In Flames for quite a while and if you ask anybody that knows me I'm just as unforgiving as any other anti-mainstream elitist here, but this album is tons more exciting than the prevous 2. I've been listening to them since "Whoracle" came out and have not been this interested in them since "Clayman." I dont see how any of you can still praise Soilwork and not like this album if you take a listen. Its a solid piece of work and i actually like nearly every track. there is even a mini blast beat! heh I may be condmening myself among you for praising this album but its the best thing ive heard since the new Opeth and that took me a few listens to get used to. "Come Clarity" is a good In Flames album and is what I expected to follow Clayman. So there!

Ecrypt I couldn't disagree with you more but.....everyone has different taste so its kind of pointless to beat that dead horse. You bring up a point about Soilwork. I think there newer material is pretty lame in comparison to albums like Steelbath suicide and Predators Portrait. The reason soilwork is still somewhat listenable (for me) is the fact that Bjorn's clean vocals are actually listenable and the songs are pretty catchy. They have made a major shift in their primary sound but it works for them.
In Flames on the other hand have attempted to make this same type of change and for whatever reasons it always comes off as a jumbled mess. Anders clean vocals are pretty bad (even with all that auto tune). In many cases the clean vocs aren't even that memorable, its like they just do it for the sake of doing it. Also on the last two albums they seemed to favor more synth/keys than guitars. Being a guitar driven band its probably not the best move lol. There are some listenable parts on the last 2 albums but as a whole the songs just aren't on par with their previous work. I feel comfortable saying the same about the new album. I mean why settle for this new BS when you can always throw in Jester Race or Whoracle?

I've seriously walked out on their sets both times I've seen them.
I'd be shocked if this album were good.
Even when they started putting out their shit material starting with Reroute, I thought they put on a good show. The material sucked but you could tell it was designed to be catchy to get people jumping up and down. The first few times I saw them, I thought they were great.

The only track that I don't dig is Come Clarity. Overall, this is not a bad album. Maybe better production would've been better.

I listened to a few tracks off this new album, and what I heard sounds like the same crap they did on the last 2 albums, and in the same direction.

I liked some stuff off reroute to remain like Dissmiss the Cynic, but the best stuff was definately The Jester Race/Black Ash Inheritance

In Flames will be back in Atlanta in February.

I swear every time they've been back through here the past couple of years I get excited hoping I'll hear a lot of the old stuff and not so much new stuff and it never happens.

...needless to say it'll probably happen again where I get suckered into going and I'll go home disappointed again.
