Favorite/Best Guitar Solo

Post by Matt » Wed May 24th, 2006, 12:08 am

this is such a hard question, i guess theres a few

IRON MAIDEN - Phantom of the Opera
MEGADETH - Tornado of Souls

are my top 2 i think that i can think of right now. pretty much all iron maiden solos are hard to fuck with in my opinion, and a lot of the old megadeth is hard to touch as well.

other close calls

cynic - cruel gentility
disincarnate - confine of shadows
morbid angel - dawn of the angry
megadeth - set the world afire!!!!!

shit i cant think, this is a gay thread, but i dont think ive seen one of these threads before and i think its more worthy then some of the garbage threads like "hollys gay new car".....

LETS HEAR WHAT YOU GOT TO SAY!!!!

this is a good topic matt! Dawn of the Angry is one of my favorite songs anyway.
my favorite solos are;
My Friend Of Misery - Metallica - black album(yeah yeah I know, but kiss my ass anyway)
Siren of the Woods - Therion - Theli
and a more timely one..
Fury Of The Storm - Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm

Carcass: Bill Steer's solo in Carnal Forge
Cynic: Celestial Voyage, anything off of Focus really.
Shawn Lane: Rice With Angels
Blue Oyster Cult: Don't Fear the Reaper
Though I havn't listened to them in forever, I remember Opeth having some really good solos amidst their epic 13 minute snoozefests.

The solo at the end of Fermented Offal Discharge by Necrophagist is the stuff of legends.

The one in the middle of The Drapery Falls off Blackwater Park comes to mind too.

The solo in "Hatebreeders" by the Misfits :)

That was actually the first solo that came to mind, so I suppose it could be my favorite.

I think Fermented Offal Discharge is one of my favorites, Ignominious and Pale is good too from Necrophagist. Oh yeah! The solo on "Return" from Arsis is probably one of my favorites ever.

All you guys that are voting for Cynic rule, I was just listening to them, they are awesome. That project their bassist has called "Gordian Knot" is awesome too.

The first ones that came to mind are the solos in Cynic's How Could I. The one in Fermented Offal Discharge is awesome too. Oh, and I really like James' and Chuck's tradeoffs in Death's Lowlife.

I guess one of my favorites would be the one in Master of Puppets.
I also really like solo trade offs. Those are cool...it'll take me awhile before I can think of my favorite one though.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
