New Slayer song
I cant judge the whole album until I hear it, but I dont think its going to be anything special. It just sounds like newer and older slayer mixed together. The intro part and third riff is pure Diablos GHUA crap. The second riff sounds like a generic washed up old Slayer riff. But its better than I thought it would be.
It annoys the shit out of me that they tune so low. I hate being able to tell the strings are flapping all over the place. I dont really care when bands tune low if it sounds good, but some bands do it just because they think its more metal, which is lame. They should stick to E stardard or E flat like they mostly did.

i listened to "cult" on the slayer website and i couldn't really tell if i liked it or it was kinda lame. then i heard "jihad" and i wasn't impressed at all. if "jihad" is the song neal is talking about i feel the exact opposite about it. i thought that the intro was really cool but thought the "chugga chugga chugchugchug din din doo doo din doo deen deen" riff was really retarded.
i think slayer is still great live but i honestly can't tell which is worse......pulling a slayer and continue to put out mediocre albums and think you're still a badass or doing what metallica did in the 90's and just pulling the shift to putting out really good rock albums(until st. anger.....there is no excuse for that).

i'm with you on this. slayer has their heads so far up slipknots ass that they think you have to tune down to drop Ab.TheKshatriya wrote: It annoys the out of me that they tune so low. We played "Jihad" at about 8:10pm on our show yesterday. You can click the link on the front page of our website or go straight to the archive at www.wrek.org to hear it.
ok, i listened to cult again and i pretty much agree with what you said about it. its got a good verse riff but the intro is a little iffy. jihad was worse. it sounded like it was straight off of diabolus in musica. it had a cool intro with some nice note selection but just went straight into a chugga chugga verse riff that was really lame.TheKshatriya wrote:I was talking about the Cult song. Where did you hear Jihad?
and yeah, i heard jihad on wrekage. i also downloaded a new metallica song that didn't suck horribly. i wouldn't go as far as to say it was good, awesome, great or anything like that but it had promise.

The Slayer show should still be good since they rarely disappoint with their setlists. Even if they play a bunch of stuff off their new album it will probably be about half that and half classics (if not more classics).
I think the new stuff sounds kinda blah too. They definitely aren't the "fastest Slayer songs ever" like Tom Araya has said in interviews, and they definitely aren't that good.

yeah, Slayer are still legends live. no reason to NOT go to see them. they will by all means blow every other band on the bill away. thats not taking anything away from the other bands, but we are talking about slayer. it would have to be one hell of a bill for me to go to a slayer show NOT to see them.
and they are only song from the new album that they are going to be playing on this tour is "cult"

heres just the audio of it.
the song has its ups and downs. the audio only recording is better than the video. it has some fairly weak riffs but it has a few good ones and it has a nice long solo in it as well. they don't even have a name for it so it must be really new and chances are it will change quite a bit by the time its recorded for the album.

The vocals are beyond awful, James cant sing. I honestly didnt know what to expect. So I didnt have any prejudgements on it, but I think its terrible. I heard 2 riffs that I thought were ok. Like Blaze said it has its ups and downs, mosts downs though in my opinion. Maybe the other songs will be better though.
