THE EMERGENZA FESTIVAL IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL SCAM CRAFTED TO EXPLOIT HARD WORKING BANDS AND FANS OF ALL GENRES FOR PROFIT - STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS AS POSSIBLE - DO NOT COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF YOURSELVES, YOUR BAND, YOUR FANS - SUPPORT THE SCENE, NOT SCAMS !!!

======== This is the email you WILL be receiveing ========

Hi there,

I thought INSERT BAND NAME HERE might be interested in playing some shows at clubs like the Avalon in Boston, the Metro and Double Door in Chicago The Orpheum in Tampa, Dukes and The Backbooth in Orlando, Fuel in Jacksonville, Original Fat cats and Beach Club in (Fort Lauderdale) Miami.

My name is Amber and I'm part of the team that books bands in these clubs for The Emergenza Festival. We put on shows for 5,000 bands in 150 venues across the U.S. and I'd like to invite your band to take part.

The top bands will get an all expenses paid European Showcase and the opportunity to play the Vans Warped Tour in the US as well as showcases at the South by South West in Austin, 6 weeks free professional recording + songs on nationwide/European compilations and submission of your material to our label and management partners.

You will find all of the information and enrollment form at http://www.emergenza.ripoff

E-mail me at Amber@emergenza.ripoff or just give me a call at 1-888-BND-FUCK (that's toll free!)

The entire festival is produced in collaboration with some of the top names in the music industry: Ernie Ball, Crate, Ampeg, Sabian, Mapex, Remo, Sennheiser and Regal Tip. The best musicians will be awarded with $1,000,000 in prizes courtesy of these companies. (This means you'll get a grab-bag of free cheap-ass Shite that no self-respecting musician would ever use).

Hope to see INSERT BAND NAME HERE on stage soon.

Yep, it was probably ME...

I just received that email on MYSPACE, and so did several others. So, it looks like this "festival" is up to its same old tricks again... My personal experience with this event left such a bad taste in my mouth, that 2 years later I find myself trying to spread the word. Yet, despite my efforts there will be hundreds, no, THOUSANDS of bands eager to sign up for a chance at exposure and a "big break"...

Yeah, this whole thing is a total scam. Some friends of mine got royally screwed on it.

It's just like anything else. You can't expect your success to come from a contest. The industry will never respect you (this is pretty much true of all artists who don't go platinum though), true music fans will never respect you and the people who buy (er download) your first album when you're "hot" won't even remember your name by the time you put out your third album...if you last that long.

It's like trying to use a trampoline to get on a roof instead of a ladder. You might make it, but chances are you are going to get seriously fucked up and come down fast.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

Scam Bam Thank You, Ma'am

The thing that tipped me off was the 666 Fifth Avenue, which is the Tishman building where MTV was once located. The last thing we need is to fucking compete for success. We don't give a flea's foreskin whether you like us or not (but if you do our EP will be for sale soon). We got the same scam bright and early this morning. I think this is a big problem with a lot of bands. Too many bands are trying so hard to get signed, that they don't bother to just fucking DIY it. Nobody's handed us shit, and we'll probably always be digging out the car seats to fund this thing, and that's fine.

People need to tell this broad to stuff it.

Haha, I got an email about this yesterday. I could tell it was fakery because the email address had someone else's name in it than the person that sent it to me. Seems too good to be true.
