Okay, a friend of mine picked it up yesterday and dropped by to let me hear some of it. It is pretty fucking bad-ass! I always though Bostaph did a great job with the band up to and including stepping up their technical level a bit, but Lombardo just stepped back in with a vengeance.

On a side note, another friend of mine ripped the new Mastodon for me. God damn, I say GOD DAMN!!! I'll make a separate post about it, but I just wanted to say GOD DAMN!!!

Picked up Christ Illusion on Wednesday and...thus far it's a little dissappointing. The thrash riffs are awesome and Tom's vocal rhythms are very old-school but every cool riff is followed up with some crappy nu-metal groove. I'll keep listening but right now it's just above Diablous on my list.

This pretty much sums up my take on it too. I'd say it's better than God Hates Us All too though.

christ illusion was better than expected, but not close to their peak years. here is how i rate it alongside the other albums:

divine intervention

Yeah man, I've been digging it... in my opinion it's the best since Seasons, the TONE of this one is sick, and the drumming is even sicker! It's great to have Dave Lumbardo back in the band. His style fits sooo much better... but then again, was there any doubt ? I can't wait to see them Live again...
