Heavycore: A metal/hardcore support organization

Post by kfoll » Mon November 13th, 2006, 1:12 pm

Wow, this is killer... I was just thinking the other day that someone should start something like this, and I was even thinking about what it might take to do it myself. But apparently this organization has existed since 1999. http://www.heavycore.org/
I wonder if anyone here has heard about this, and what you think about it?

Basically the idea is of a coalition of metal bands and also of those who provide services to metal bands, such as promoters and merch people. I just joined up as a Supporter, as one who can do art/graphics and video stuff. There is a $10/year fee for bands to join. What you get for that is stuff like promo, reviews and other exposure in print media, a potential spot on a compilation CD, putting songs up on their site, access to sell merchandise on their site, and access to get Supporters' help in any services you might require, at a discount, or in some cases, free.

You guys should take a look at it and tell me what you think. Have you heard of this, and if so, is this something that could benefit the bands here? If so, I'll look into what it takes to start up a chapter here. I certainly think the idea has a lot of potential, and I like the guy's mission statement a lot.

LOL, my mom was in one of these for business people when she had extra time to do graphics/websites/training for people.
