Board-wide Jam sessions

Post by kfoll » Thu December 7th, 2006, 10:17 am

Down in the musicians forum there is some discussion of a board-wide jam session. The idea will be just get together and jam and see what happens.

I am into taking video of this event, recording for posterity any interesting stuff that might happen during such a session. Such as some of those "free-agent" musicians here who are looking to start a new band or looking for an existing band to play with, and whether something new might come out of all the jamming. Who knows, maybe we could start a tradition. It'd be fun, anyway. And the video I take will be made available to anyone who participates. (It will also be made a part of my ongoing DVD project, but probably only in bits and pieces.)

The whole thing should be set up as a party atmosphere with edibles and potables (and smokables). ;) BYOB, etc., and bring your own instruments if possible. We can make a bulletin announcement on Myspace too in case there are other people who don't frequent this board who might be interested to join in.

I think there will be enough people down with this that we could make it happen in the near future. The only things we need to establish are:

>Where to do this
>When to do this
>What brand of beer/booze to bring

What do you guys & gals think? Is this a plan?

All I can do is noodle. If there's a need for that, I'm in.

Noodling is good. As long as enough people are noodling together. :)

Kegs, or 12-packs... it all depends on how many people we could expect. As to where -- well I can't offer a place unfortunately, all I can do is suggest other people's places. :D Hopefully someone here will step in and play the host.

Aw cmon guys, do you think we'd just pull your chain? :P

Really, if it involves me getting video of people jamming, I'll move heaven and earth to make it happen. Even if I have to book the Highlander for this event, I'll do it.

Actually that's not a bad idea. I actually think the HIghlander people would be all over this, making it an "open-mic" kinda thing. That way we wouldn't have to worry about pissing off neighbors, and they'd sell a lot of alcohol heh. Plus the people who frequent the place woudl probably get a kick out of the "noodling" stuff.

Dangit, I thought I replied to this before...
I went to ask the dude at the Highlander about this on Saturday, and he said they can't because they have to rent all the sound equipment. So I guess we're back to square one. I still want to do this.. anyone got any idea where would be a good place?

I would but my house is way too small and there's too much stuff in it. I'd offer my boyfriend's house but his parents live there too. And his house is huge. :(
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
