NHL on NBC

Post by kamal » Fri January 12th, 2007, 2:24 pm

America,

Hockey fans can rejoice since the NHL is back on network television starting this Saturday. At 2pm NBC will be airing the Pittsburgh/Philly game and then the Thrashers/Flyers game Sunday at 3:30. They'll be broadcasting most Sunday games until the end of the season.

Good news for me and other ATL hockey fans since we don't live in Canada and don't have the PayPerView package.

AND because turner south/fucking sport south whatever doesn't broadcast all of the thrashers games for some unknown reason. If you're a channel based on sports programming and the thrashers are one of your flagship teams, you should freaking show all the games.

I don't know about cable channels, but major networks won't broadcast the home team if not enough people buy tickets.

Well yeah, but when a channel is regional and supposed to be a sponsor of the team, one would think they'd be broadcasting all of the games.

Also, doesn't Turner own the Thrashers?
So why wouldn't a Turner channel show all of the games?
Dur.

That's like Comcast not playing all of the Flyers games on Comcast Sports Net.
STUPID.

Atlanta Spirit LLC owns the Thrashers and Hawks. Turner South was bought out by Fox, and is now called SportSouth.

But yes, they are a regional channel, and should broadcast all Thrashers games.

Awesome to hear about the switch to network. Hopefully it will be wide aspect ratio and HD!

As to why TS doesn't show all the games: $$$ or lack of it. They're going to show whatever generates the most ad revenue and there's no other channel willing to pick up all of the games.

shrugs.

Beau Turner is one of the owners but, yes, Atlanta Spirit owns 'em.
