Check it yo, NEW withered website

Post by withered » Wed February 21st, 2007, 4:15 pm

Hey Folks,
For those who are interested, we just launched our new site at WWW.WITHERED.NET . It's a little sexier and a bit more relevant (I think). Anyway, check it out. There's a new media section that will contain photos, live videos, song videos, downloads, etc. It's not quite finished but will be up soon.

not bad. i accually like it. but i would recomend changing the flash links near the top. instead of the letters all being indevidual maybe turn it into a GIF image with invisable pixils. you would have the same effect and not such a bitch to hover over.

I actually agree.
Flash is so worthless, unless it's for a splash page or something, and even then people skip it.

well im a HUGE flash fan. i think the program is just fun as shit. but i would ONLY recomend it as a last resort for basic web design. if you can do something in HTML or JAVA instead of having to use flash then do so becaus it will always load faster and cleaner and old versions of FireFox that some people are still using doesnt even support flash. so basicly what im trying to say is save the flash for the crazy ass shit

Actually, I built it AND designed it. Well, I used Paul Romano's native files from our album art and manipulated it for the site. We too poor to pay somebody else to do it and I doubt our label would spring for it though I should try and get them to pay me. What a great idea.

Yeah, I know the nav is iffy. Hadn't taken the time to get it more 'clickable' (that's a developer's term). I'll get it fixed up. I was just happy to get the damn site database driven finally so updates are a snap. I'm poor AND I don't have any time.

Oh, and I love flash. Mostly just for nav and mp3 players, etc. Splash pages and complicated animations are mostly a waste. I'd have done .gifs but flash just looks and feels better to me.

Ok, i guess i found enough time to fix the flash nav button. should be much easier and much more 'clickable'.

So, please, enjoy.

<web geek mode>I just made a rectangle the size of each word, turned it into a symbol, and set it's alpha to '0' making it invisible. Then I sent it to the back layer and that's it.</web geek mode>.

That's the beauty of flash. It took about 5 minutes.
