for me there was some pretty decent stuff that came out this year as far as metal... what was the best for the rest of you???

1. mucopus - undimensional (best cd this year )
2. rwake - voices of omens (second best)
3. immolation - shadows in the light
4. splitter - avskräckande exemplar
5. afgrund - svarta dagar (or the split with relevant few, both good)
6. sexcrement - genitales from the porno potty
7. municipal waste - the art of partying
8. jesu - conqueror
9. disavowed - stagnated existence
10. moistened disciples - stop praying, no one is listening

1. Nex "Zero" CD (Deathgasm/Next Horizon)

I can't think of a single release otherwise worthy of mention. The aforementioned Immolation album was decent, though.

Watain - Sworn to the Dark
High on Fire - Death is this Communion (probably my #1)
Amorphis - Silent Waters
Behemoth - The Apostasy
Obituary - Xecutioner's Return
Finntroll - Ur Jordens Djup
Ziltoid the Omniscient
Vital Remains - Icons of Evil
Type O Negative - Dead Again

At first I liked the Baroness album, but it hasn't stuck if that makes sense. Whereas the Amorphis was whatever at first, but has grown to be one of my favorites this year.
Megadeth gets an honorable mention for releasing something as good as Countdown to Extinction.
Dimmu Borgir was cool at first, but I got bored with it. I might get into it again sometime in the future.

Also, because i'm out of the loop metal-wise, I somehow missed Peter Lindgren leaving Opeth, and Devin Townsend saying SYL and Devin Townsend band were finished and he wasn't going to tour anymore.
I'm looking forward to the live Opeth CD\DVD.

And yes, The Apostasy is THAT bad. Good god, what a piece of shit. Bloody Panda and down is what I consider the "Crap Tier" of 2007.

Yeah after I listened to it a couple times I realised FYC was better, but only marginally. All those albums in that part of the list are fantastic, so the ranking is somewhat insignificant.
