Fuck that site.
As the owner of ATLmetal.com, I just wanted to comment on your post. I know it has been quite a while since your post but as you will find by visiting my profile on these forums, the last time I visited was over 2 years ago. Anyways, I just wanted to express my sincere apologies to you, Holly and anyone else that may have been effected by any viruses that may have been downloaded to your computer from ATLmetal.com. Unfortunately when you operate a website of this size/popularity you take the risk of being "hacked", and that is exactly what happened. I want you to know that I have taken every measure of extra security possible and have completely removed/repaired all effected files on the site. We are now 100% clean and safe.
Security and Privacy is one of my top concerns with running ATLmetal.com. So that is why within the past year I have purchased a security certificate from godaddy.com. Purchased and upgraded the site to an entirely new server and ran a virus check on every file/folder that exists on the site to ensure they are all completely virus free before re-uploading, and they are.
I know there are a lot of people that frequent this forum that do not like or agree with ATLmetal.com. They are all entitled to their own opinions and that is fine, they may say whatever they would like about the site. My personal opinion on the matter is that 3 years ago I decided to build a website that would hopefully help grow the ATL Heavy Music Scene. I have tried a lot of things with the site that were looking back on them were obviously bad ideas and never had a chance, on the other hand I feel we have a lot of things that could really help unite and grow the scene. I dont claim to be a perfect web designer or promoter. Just a person who had an idea and wants to try everything I can possibly think of to help the ATL Heavy music Scene grow.
Well, that is enough from me, I know just from being a part of this forum in the past what kind of responses this reply is going to generate so I will just go ahead and finish this up and leave you with some images proving that I have improved security and eliminated all virus issues on the site. Again, my apologies.

Hey BTW, there is an error on the forum, I tried to submit the reply once but each time I tried to submit it, it said something about error sending email, debug mode, php, etc. so i didn't think it was going through.
Sorry it posted 3 times, wasn't intentional.

I have to say you made a great effort with building this site. However, IMO the site should have been beta-tested or something before it was generally promoted so that at least the major bugs could be worked out. It's nice that you PM us to tell us about them, but they should be worked out beforehand.
What about adding friends? I didn't see that function, although maybe I missed something.
I like how you keep the show calendar updated; that's a plus. It seems like it'd be fairly easy to build a function that would let me see one list of the upcoming events just for bands I'm interested in - such as those on my friends list (if you have that function).
Also, browsing through the "fans" or "bands" is very clunky. When I click a profile to view it, then want to return to the list, it says that the page has expired and I have to go through the whole selection process again. For just "browsing" that is very awkward.
And about the choices of metal vs. metalcore, that's not all that bothersome to me, as long as the distinction is made, and accurately represented. That said, you can't include everything under the sun under the category of metal, just because it's heavy.
Just my two bits of advice base on what little time I've spent in there so far.

First, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to give me such detailed feedback. This type of feedback really helps for improving the site. Thank you! Second, I will definitely look into all of your suggestions and concerns immediately. You also mentioned having "freinds" on the site. Right now we don't have anything set up to let you add friends, but it's coming.kfoll wrote:I have to say you made a great effort with building this site.
