yeah no shit! It's great for cancer patients! I also knew a chick who smoked it because it helped her with her bipolar disorder...apparently the lithium didn't really help too much. And besides, I'd rather have baked drivers on the road than drunk drivers any day!Acidic Consumption wrote:i would love it to be legal too brother but it's very doubtful. Maybe one day when all the moral majority loosen up and realize it's alot more to it than just getting high.

ps - I don't smoke it btw but obviously, I'm not against it.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

It's more likely to be the other way around. I think the state governments would go for it before the Fed. That's the issue in California right now.Knucklehead wrote:I doubt this will happen. Even if the Federal Government legalized marijuana, it would still be illegal in Georgia, under state law.
I think it may happen eventually as more of our generation come into power in DC (and more importantly, as the old guard dies off). But for now it's too convenient for them to have a tool for imprisonment, questioning, search and seizure, etc. for them to loosen that grip.
Let the joyous celebrations of Hell begin!

It definitely helps Leslie(my fiance) out. She's going through advanced chemo and it helps her more than any narcotic she's prescribed and that's quite a few.Metalfreak wrote:yeah no shit! For those of you who voted for Obama under the impression that he would legalize marijuana, you should note that he just signed this into law:
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/06/22 ... acco-bill/
Obama and Democrats like him mislead the public into believing that they are against laws that affect private matters; that is NEVER the case, and anything contrary to that is always hearsay with no support. They are for EXPANSION OF FEDERAL POWER AND OVERSIGHT. Obama believes that because of his own smoking problems that the rest of America is to be punished for it.
The only change this administration will bring is more intrusion of the government into your daily life, nonsense "carbon taxes", etcetera. But apparently that's what everyone wants.
Keep hoping for the legalization/decriminalization of your favorite pastimes. It won't be happening.

I think it's awfully dangerous to generalize what is happening in California to the rest of the nation. Honestly, the only other place I could see this happening is Massachusetts and maybe a random State in the Great Plains. Marijuana will remain illegal in the South.Strange wrote:It's more likely to be the other way around. I think the state governments would go for it before the Fed. As for cloves, they are fun. I will be sad to see them go.
But drawing the larger debate over tobacco regulation as interference in a merely private matter is disingenuous. The truth is, my health-insurance premium is higher because people make the decision (a) to start smoking and (b) to continue smoking. Let's not forget the old maxim that someone else's rights become mediated once they butt up against mine. Those decisions cost me money.
I don't smoke anymore but I very much enjoyed cigarettes, beer, and pool. And they were nice to fill the quiet moments. And Camel Lights taste good. Don't get me wrong -- I enjoyed smoking quite a bit. And I don't really have any problem with someone else smoking, although I don't think that anybody over 30 should. But when it comes to political discussions, characterizing smoking as a merely private matter is problematic.
