for those who care Daniel...
is back at work! He went back today...he'll be working the desk for at least 2 months and hopefully he'll be beating up perps in no time! For now, I have to drive him there and back (one of the reasons why I can't go to either of the shows tonight) but at least he's working again.
Here's the short version of events: He broke his leg May 3rd, was going to go back to the desk a month ago but request got denied due to new policy (which was never distributed so nobody knew about it, not even the captains), then he was going to go on 'donation of leave' which means others would have donated their sick time (he ran out of his after 2 months) so he could still get paychecks until he was healed completely but we found out the other day that got denied too because his injury is not 'life threatening.' They then allowed him to come back on the desk anyways.
There was a bunch of bullshit behind these decisions and we wrote complaints and stirred up a shitstorm because of it. All I have to say is they should NOT allow civilians to make decisions that govern policies regarding police officers, and people wonder why so many cops hate their jobs, because of the idiots who make the policies which make no fucking sense whatsoever. Even Daniel's captain got pissed off. These civialians don't know what it's like to be a cop, especially an injured cop. Both DeKalb and the city of Atlanta are really bad when it comes to mistreatment of their officers, that's why so many leave after their required time to stay (for DeKalb, it's 2 years). I am glad he's working again but we are not happy with everything leading up to it.

thanks man. we appreciate it.Acidic Consumption wrote:Glad Daniel is back on the job Amanda, sorry u guys had so much bullshit to go through.
apparently because of Daniel's complaint, those stupid ass civilians wanted to revoke allowing him to work the desk for 2 months but the Cheif of Police said no way! He's staying. We're glad he's on our side. He knows the civilians in that department are retarded.

Now that he's working, time for me to go back to work as well...where? no clue. I've applied to alot of places so far.

they don't have their own laws. what I am saying is that those who make up the policies for police officers should be police officers, not others who don't know what it's like to be out there on the street risking their lives everyday. I am sorry you feel this way. They don't imprison people like zookeepers, they imprison those who break the law and since this is DeKalb County, those who go to jail are out in no time anyways, even those who deserve to be behind bars for a long time.necroodin wrote:I have to say I don't feel too much sorrow for one who chooses to imprison people like a zookeeper. I thought police were civilians who served, not a seperate race of people with their own laws, but that could just be me.
Just because you don't like cops doesn't mean they are all bad people. think about the things you have gotten arrested for, you probably were breaking the law...you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught.
I don't believe you have met Daniel but those who have (on this forum) can vouch for him that he's a great guy and does his job right. He's not an asshole cop, he's one of those cops who you may have met before that you would consider to be cool.

@Strange - hahaha that would be funny!
Daniel got fucked over because there was a new policy set in place literally 20 days before he broke his leg that states that police officers who get injured off duty can't work light duty at all. they have to wait to come back until they are completely healed. It's not the policy we're pissed at. There is a good reason this policy is in place and it has nothing to do with Daniel. Also there's another policy which states that unless an officer has a life threatening injury or is hospitalized, he can't get donation of leave (sounds reasonable, we're not mad at that either). So that's why Daniel's request for that got denied and they gave him 2 months on the desk as a compromise...that's where the hole in this policy is.
If someone gets hurt off the job (non-life threatening), is out for awhile and uses up all of their sick leave and is still going to be out for awhile until they heal, they can't get donation of leave because their life isn't in danger and they aren't allowed to work on the desk, then they are out of income for that amount of time. What if they have a family to take care of? Whenever someone gets hurt, are they going to have to make 'an exception' for that person? It really needs to be rewritten, maybe something like for off duty injuries, no desk duty until all your sick leave is used up or something like that, until then, DeKalb is going to have alot of cases like this. People get hurt all the time.
We are pissed because since this policy is so new, it was never distributed (I don't know if they forgot to distribute it or what). Because NOBODY knew about it, including the captains, majors and the cheif of police himself, they asked for an exception to this new rule since they were going by the printed rules in the handbook. There was no special treatment, they were going by the rules they knew and followed. and if you couldn't figure it out, he was just going by the rules he knew also. oh that's right, you don't care.
What if someone in your family got hurt and got screwed over just because of a beaurocracy error? Wouldn't you be pissed off too? I bet you would be. Just because he's a cop, you could give 2 shits if it killed him. If he was a firefighter or something else, I bet you would care at least a little.
And besides, I wouldn't date an asshole. [/i]
whoops. didn't know.necroodin wrote:I've never been arrested..
haha family of police? good god. my family are the worst fuckups I have ever met...my dad and brother could probably make a website like hotels.com but for jails. anyways, I'm getting off track here...necroodin wrote: I just find the fact that police or families of police think they are somehow special or deserve some type of different consideration, hilarious.
