Remember when Alan Ayo played in Fairchild and had the mamoth hair?
Yep, in fact, his drumming was the reason why he was an early convert to Dream Theater, which is why he 'facilitated' getting me their album.

I remember me and a friend calling him up one night and distracting him so much he dropped an S-bomb on the air...oh, god, we were dyin'.

Wow this is an old thread.

What got me into metal? Puberty.
I mourn as and with DarkWolfen as our metal hero is gone. :(

When I was a little boy, my mother would let the record player run at bedtime with "Tommy" by the Who playing. That got me hooked on music in general. After seeing Kiss in 1976 with their make-up on still, I was a rock and roll child from then on. When metal kicked in the the eighties, I was all over it. I got into Slayer and Venom and brought my walkman to school. I had a mullet. They called me Lucifer in high school because of the music I liked. Good times.

Now I'm married and got two kids and only get to hear metal when I go to a show! I think I hear more metal (music in general) at shows than I do on my own stereo.

Gotta go, my daughter wants me to draw an elephant on the doodle pad.

Just as long as it isn't a white elephant, or she will throw it back in your face and tell you it's too much of a burden.

Nah, she'll just shriek like a banshee. She's got some lungs when she's upset. I feel the terrible two's coming on very soon.

I started getting into harder rock and metal by way of Marilyn Manson in high school, when i was about 14 or 15... but i stayed a closet fan of them and other bands(Nothingface, Disturbed, etc) until i got out of there. Who REALLY got me into metal was Carcass - who i discovered because a guy mixed their song Genital Grinder with a Missy Elliott song. I decided to learn more about the band... and then got to see them in '08. Life is good.
