Beer of choice???

Post by Ecrypt » Thu June 16th, 2005, 9:15 pm

You cant be "truly metal" without a particular choice of poison swill. (dont bother to reply if you dont drink and say "well I'm metal and I dont drink beer...ad nauseam" we all know there are sober metal heads...) Metal and beer go particularly well together I think, or in some cases very poorly depending on how much you threw up or how badly you got your ass beat...
My beer of choice is PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon for you straight edgers...) sure it tastes like ass, but its cheap and it all does the same thing in the end. Like a porno!
But if I have to choose a more high brow beer, I like Sweet Water Pale Ale and a good dark Guinness.

Free beer is always best.

I guess I don't have a favorite. I like drinking Newcastle during practice. If it's a show or a shitty bar, PBR for sure. I like drinking Corona at strip clubs. Killians or Amber Bock with lunch/dinner.

I like Blue Ribbon and Miller Lite the best. But beer is beer, and as Will said "Free is always the best."

Beer is NOT simply beer. Aside from Sweetwater and Miller High Life (of all things), all American beer is pisswater. Beer of choice for me is Optimator.

I used to have the "beer is beer" attitude but that's because I was drinking stuff like IceHouse, PBR, etc which all taste kinda the same. When the alchohol limits were raised I started experimenting with stuff off of the 'pricey shelf' of the package store. I've really grown to like Belgian ales. Damn tastey beer. Ports have also grown on me.

Here's some extra curricular hoity toity reading that might help:
Unibroue Beer 101
Wikipedia of Beer

Unibroue, despite being French Canadian, is an interesting brewery. In addition to having good beer, their marketing seems to revolve around the devil but in weird ways. One particularly good beer, Maudite, which means "the damned one", involves the story a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas. Trois Pistoles involves the legend of the black horse summoned by a parish priest to help build the village church.
Canadians, beer, church, Christmas and evil... who'd a thought they all worked so well together?

All right you pussies here's a list of brews that'll knock yer boots off:
1. Maudite- Brewed in Canada it is an amber ale with a strong palate and smooth finish that leaves you with a warm sensation. Maudite I believe means"damned".
2. Horn Dog- A barley wine by the Flying Dog brewing co. Strong as a Guiness Extra Stout but has a smoother finish.
3. Duvel- a Belgian lager that gets you a buzz real quick without sacrificing flavor. It's cool and refreshing and great by the pool on a hot Ga. night.
4. Hobgoblin- An ebglish ale that has chocolate and coffee overtones. I drink this around Christmas .
5. Paulaner Hefeweisen- another cool refrshing drink, best served cooler than room temp with a slice of lemon.
6. Pub draught Guiness- an old favorite i'll never tire of
7.Newcastle Brown- The best beer that the Masquerade will serve.

I'd could go on, but I don't wanna bore anyone much more than this.

cheap beer, PBR
American beers, anything Miller and Anchor Steam kicks ass

I also like Guiness, Beck's, Bass Ale, pretty much anything dark. I haven't had the chance to try most import beers because i'm in college and have no money.

If I drink beer it's usually just going to be a Budweiser. All beer is pretty much the same to me, even the good Trappists, it's all beer. Bombay Sapphire, Red Army Vodka, Johnnie Walker, Evan Williams, these are things that my taste buds enjoy more than the grog. Not totally downing the beer, for I do appreciate the beer, this head digs liquor more. Cheers to all.

I'm just glad you didn't say, "Paps Blue Ribbon" that maybe the worst tasting liquid ever!
