Beating Diana to the punch.


So, last week these Christians came to the door wanting to talk to me at length about THE LORD. So I let them in and offered them coffee. They wanted to convince me that the Bible is the true word of God. I had a lot of questions for them...

Why does God allow so much suffering in the world?
Why won't God heal amputees?
Why does God allow children in Africa to be born with AIDS?
What about tsunamis?
What about earthquakes?
What about hurricanes?
What about 9/11?
Etc.

The answer to all my questions could be found in the Bible, they said--that suffering was part of an overall Greater Divine Plan. I said I don't believe the Bible and I surely don't believe in any God who willingly allows these terrible things to happen. They didn't have any answers that didn't circle back to the Bible. They asked if they could come back sometime! I said they'd be wasting their time but they were more than welcome to come back and again refuse to answer my questions.

They were nice guys. Such a shame they're wasting their lives pushing ancient myths door-to-door. I hope I planted some seeds of doubt in their minds.

Rest assured that you didn't, but good on you for trying. I can't talk to those folks politely, so the nicest thing I can do is slam the door before they start talking.
