I'll never forget when they played the house show in that basement out in Marietta/Kennesaw and covered Seek & Destroy. Some clown thought it was acceptable to karate dance during it. I disagreed. Plowed into him and he went flying a million feet head first into a cement wall. I was proud of my asshole-self that night.

Couldn't fight it, had to gank the new Gorguts, it has thoroughly exploded my brain. I'd feared it would continue in the direction of a lot of "technical" metal these days, getting more skeletal, more angular, like all the other Canadian tech death bands, or in the way that Deathspell Omega is sounding more and more like a Steve Albini math rock project. But no, a thousand times no, it sounds like a death metal orchestra blaring through a rupture between space and time, and resembles absolutely nothing out there currently (nor anything in the past). Production's insane, songwriting's insane, playing's insane. It's as different from their prior work as Obscura and FWTH were from the previous two albums (and better than any of them).

Ahab - The Call Of The Wretched Sea (I've listened to this album every day since Tuesday, multiple times. It quickly became one of my favorite albums. I think I like it so much because it's more than a few heavy notes over and over. It has some meat behind its funeralishness and is fucking amazing)
Ahab - The Divinity Of Oceans
Ahab - The Giant (Definitely my least favorite of the three)
Evildead - Annihilation Of Civilization (REAL fucking thrash!)
Evil Offering - We Bring Your Death [Ep] (Good thrash)
Gaschamber - Gaschamber (Not so good 'New Thrash', but still worth a listen if you're as crazy about the genre as I am)
Raise Hell - Holy Target (Pretty damn awesome Blackened Thrash, leaning a bit more towards the 'black')
Raise Hell - Not Dead Yet (Overall a pretty shitburger album. It's like they tried to be that pseudo-party crap that later Bodom is like...minus the keyboards. Has a few good songs and a few good riffs, but I'd recommend passing over it entirely)
Raise Hell - Wicked Is My Game
Knelt Rote - Tresspass (Thanks Ryan! I didn't expect to be as happy about this goddamn band as I am. I'm grabbing their other stuff as I type. Super pleasant surprise. The noise stuff actually fits well with the overall music and didn't suck.)
Autopsy - Shitfun (Yes!)
Autopsy - The Headless Ritual (No!)

Yeah man, they're killer, glad you dig it! The further you go back in their (short) discog the more noise/grind and power electronics there are.

it continues to grown on me well executed and produced...though some people like rawer production for that sorta of thing so it can be a matter of taste as it'sa bigger more developed sound.
