and what defines it? Bands like Hellhammer, CF, Bathory, Venom all sound drastically different than the second wave Norwegian bands did. For a while in my youth I defined the true sound as that, the 2nd wave Norg bands. As time has progressed though the 3rd wave, with bands like Watain, Devil's Blood, later Mgla and others changed that sound also. Now we're having the period of War Metal pioneered by bands like Blasphemy and Revenge. The genre has become more and more diverse. It's ever frustrating because BM is already filled with elitists and now they seem to judge whats "true" based on their own biases and which sub sub genre they prefer.
