I used to be into the whole indie rock thing--Guided By Voices, Morphine, Liz Phair, Ween--but that's sort of tapered off. And I had, somewhat coinciding, an electronica phase, a gothic phase, and an industrial phase, all of which are thankfully over. Though I sort of mined the best out of them and still occasionally listen to stuff like Circle of Dust and Bauhaus and Future Sound of London's earlier stuff.
If you liked Circle of Dust, you might like Celldweller, which is Klayton Scott's current project. Their self-titled debut CD has become one of my favorite CDs of all time. Excellent live show, too, although I've only seen them once, at the Masquerade, at a little headlining gig that drew about 40 people. (They'd draw a lot better now!)
And we can't forget Mortiis. Well, his first few albums. He rules. Fake nose and all.
Nice guy, too. I saw his first-ever US show at the Masquerade when my friends in Godhead were, like Mortiis, opening for Christian Death. We had to share the 'visitors' dressing room, which was....weird. I walked in and saw this really young-looking guy, just arrived off the road, wearing a cool shirt and fairly tight leather pants. "Are you with Mortiis?" Faint smile. "I
am Mortiis."
post, Ozric Tentacles should be fairly accessible on the Net if you look for mp3's, but I can't find a current website for them. They used to have a great one, but they blew their bandwidth and that was that. I can recommend the CDs
Jurassic Shift, Erpland, Strangeitude and
Live Underslunky without hesitation....although almost any CD they've done since the old cassette-first releases is excellent. Snapper Records has recently reissued quite a few of their CDs in a handy 2-in-1 package format. The CD that they thank me in,
Waterfall Cities, is pretty good, too.

They don't fit into a genre. "Instrumental space-rock with great grooves, excellent synth and guitars," I suppose.
As for the other bands....hmmmm. Dead Can Dance are at
www.deadcandance.com, although the page doesn't display right for me. They are world-music, with lots of influences including Celtic, Middle-Eastern, traditional, etc. One of the most revered bands in the genre. Their show at Radio City was breathtaking.
Faith and the Muse are one of the world's legendary goth bands, ranking just behind Bauhaus, Joy Division etc. in terms of influence. I basically booked their last show here in Atlanta, at Dragon*Con, and they were superb. I think a lot of folks there (and there were 1,500 or so people in the room) were really surprised; most of them were there for the Cruxshadows, who are a more modern/electronica goth band. I'd really love to see them again.
DZC, cool that you've seen Ozrics. I missed their last show in Athens and it really killed me...and it would have if I'd gone, since I was working on no sleep and had just flown back to GA from TX that very day, and was in severe toothache pain. I did see them in NYC and Charlotte on their last tour, with Jon fronting the band for the last time.
