I saw it last night... it was ok, not great, imo. I dunno, no vampire movie can really scare me anymore, none since Salem's Lot. There's just too much "known" about vampires and all the protagonists usually know or think they know what to do abuot them so it usually ends up just being like a suspense thriller or a contest of who can be more badass. I guess that's why they inevitably have to be either romantic, ironically funny, or spectacularly gory to even be interesting anymore.
It was pretty sad to see Josh Hartnett turn into ashes tho.

i didn't really see too much of the "who's a bigger badass" in this movie. i think it was plain from the get go that the vampires were by far the baddest asses in town. ontop of that there really were no cliches in this movie either. no overuse of garlic and crosses, no stakes to the heart or any of the like. i thought it was by far the most "breath of fresh air" vampire movies in quite a while.
