They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???
Dude -- we're old. I saw Metallica three times on the Justice tour. I remember Queensryche opened for them, but played an extremely short set. (Guys were throwing beer bottles at them and Geoff what's-his-face said that the guys throwing the bottles had an unfair advantage because the house lights were blinding them. I think he missed the point.)WREKage-Paul wrote:Wayyy back in the ol' days, two friends of mine and I went on a roadtrip to see a band on tour...and a band called The Cult got kicked off that tour and a hitherto little-known band called Faith No More replaced them...and their career took off after that.
The tour: Metallica in 1989.
The reason: Ian Astbury of The Cult was a drunken jerk, hassling us and destroying our camera back at the hotel, and since my friend knew Metallica pretty well, this didn't go over well with the headliners. The Cult were kicked off the tour shortly thereafter, and FNM were tapped to take their place. \m/
LOL, yes he did. Was that at the Atlanta show? I had tickets to that show here at the Omni and at the time, was going primarily for Queensyche, but I ended up missing their set for backstage-pass reasons, and saw Metallica's set...which was great.Knucklehead wrote: Dude -- we're old. The official excuse was that Ian's dad had passed away or something....and that was the excuse for weeks, going into months. After awhile even 'Tallica got tired of it.And I also saw The Cult open for them. Sonic Temple had just been released. And Ian Astbury was drunk, drunk, drunk. He was so drunk, he tripped and fell on stage. He did manage to keep singing, but nonetheless had fallen on his ass.
Don't tell anyone, but I'm a Yankee. That was at Cobo Hall, in Detroit. There was such an air of excitement -- thrash was new and we definitely had a feeling of ownership over it. Queensryche seemed to represent the a slightly older generation of metalheads, that still listened to Zep and Aerosmith. Ultimately, they just weren't a good fit.WREKage-Paul wrote:LOL, yes he did. I can totally understand that, even though Operation: Mindcrime was the album that got me firmly into metal -- as opposed to, say, Rush, Triumph, etc. -- to stay. That was at Cobo Hall, in Detroit. My mother-in-law is from Mississippi and my wife grew up in New Orleans and Birmingham. When my wife once explained ice-fishing to her, over dinner, my mother-in-law leaned over the table and, in a stage whisper, said, "you've caught yourself a real, live Yankee!"WREKage-Paul wrote:YANKEES GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!Knucklehead wrote: Don't tell anyone, but I'm a Yankee.
