Congratulations! You are going to love that machine. Just make sure to get it properly set up for your style.
Personally, I hate those kinds of straplocks because I don't trust them. I always just put a big washer on in front of the strap for, like, ten cents. It's permanent, but super durable.
Have fun!

Not me, but my guy is the shit. I'll PM you his info. He runs a guitar building school, but picks up side work.Brian wrote:Thanks! I'm really excited for it to come in. And yeah, definitely gonna get it over to you for a setup.

Washer method is tried and true for sure, but what kind of straplocks are you talking about? Dunlop? Schaller? ...other?badcarburetor wrote: Personally, I hate those kinds of straplocks because I don't trust them. I always just put a big washer on in front of the strap for, like, ten cents. Anything with the "pull and drop pin" method. I'm not sure what you call those, but they are pretty common. Honestly, I hate anything that's not a factory style button with a washer. So simple, cheap and reliable. I also dig how Eddie Van Halen sets his up with eyebolt screws in the guitar body and dog clips on the straps. If I ever redid all my guitars I think I'd go that way.Strange wrote:Washer method is tried and true for sure, but what kind of straplocks are you talking about? Dunlop? Gotcha. Sounds like you're talking about Schallers. They're pretty solid as far as the lock mechanism goes, but I've had issues with the friction of the mechanism causing the pin screws to loosen...and that sucks. I use Dunlops which have a button release and ball-bearing pivot. I've used them for years and never had any problems. I've heard of other people having issues with them, but I've always chalked it up to user error given the sources. I also dig the DiMarzio clip-llocks, but I don't like the straps they're attached to.badcarburetor wrote:Anything with the "pull and drop pin" method. To each his/her own though.
