I went to GSU and all 4 years, didn't have a car. I relied solely on MARTA (trains and buses) and made it to countless shows! Sometimes, my godfather let me barrow his car which was nice and sometimes people did give me rides home. There are also countless times when I've walked to and from North Ave marta station too! It's only like a mile...if you can't walk that then you suck ;)

All I know is I did alot of walking while in college...even more so while in high school. Where will you be staying at? I was in the Chamblee area.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

Oh I can definitely walk a mile haha, in fact I love walking cities in general, I just don't know if it's the safest area (esp. at night), and to top that of I'm basically the antithesis of street-smart...

Actually I'm gonna be commuting via MARTA from east cobb, maybe I'll get an apt. next year. But I have a friend staying at the lofts (the new university complex on edgewood) so I figured I'd crash in his room after the shows.

...Anyway, I figured out that I can use a combination of trains + buses to get to most shows pretty easily. Honestly, the thing I'm most worried about (and please pardon my suburbanite-fueled ignorance if I sound stupid) is waiting at the bus stops after the shows, because it would be easier for someone to gang up on me there?? Also since most of the buses come into Five Points I'm worried about walking through there at night because I hear bad things about that area...

I can see that...you just want to be safe. In high school, I lived in Little 5 and I also lived in the hood (and I'm a white female) so I guess it never bothered me. It also made me a bit more street smart and vigilent too. Just keep an eye on anyone who looks sketchy and if you feel really uncomfortable, just go across the street if they're on the same side as you. I've had to do that before. When walking down North Ave, always walk down the left side of the street (when walking toward the Masq) because the gas station on the corner of Boulevard and North Ave (which is on the right side) is sketchy as fuck. There's always creepers chillin outside there. There's also a few crack houses right after that gas station, also on the right side. Stay left and you should be fine.

As for waiting at bus stops, I never had a problem. The others waiting at the bus stops just want to get home just like you. Once I even passed out at a bus stop for a little bit (the stop near Eats on Ponce after a Megadeth show...man I was druuunk LOL).

Yeah 5 Points can be sketchy but I also never had a problem there. The only time I was there late at night was when I was leaving WRAS after my show every Monday night though. If you hear some random dude yelling/ screaching, it may just be the crazy bible thumper who yells at you while looking at you like you're the one who's crazy & slapping the bible around. I'm sure you'll see alot more crazy shit too. I saw all kinds of crazy shit on Marta!
