Speaking of 666's, when my friend Chris and I went to eat at Genghis Grill* near Mall of Georgia, we got numbers 66 and 67 for our orders when we dropped them off at the grill to be stir-fried. Like any good metalheads, we arranged our numbered cards in the holder on our table so it formed a "666."
Our server walked by, happened to see them thusly arranged and said "Oh, that doesn't look right!" and promptly rearranged them. We both rolled our eyes, waited until he walked away, and rearranged them again to display "666." Shortly thereafter the grill guy came by with our bowls, put them down, looked at the displayed cards and my old Dimmu t-shirt, grinned and gave us a metal-horns.
At least SOMEONE got it right.

It occurs to me that my friend Brad Owens' new store is definitely metal in an unmetal place.
He's opened a store called The Rock Shop right outside the food court at the Mall of Georgia (the store is mostly metal, though)....and for those who go to the Mall of Georgia, you know it's a relatively high-end clientele. The typical passersby there would probably be horrified by a Cannibal Corpse or Immortal fabric poster, or a Darkthrone watch*, or a Satyricon baseball-style cap. I can't wait to find out what they put in the front windows facing the crowd, since they're still settling in. Hopefully something really brutal (but, probably not TOO brutal).
I really hope he does well, since the rent there can't be cheap. For those who know the mall, his store is in the same spot that Coldstone Creamery was in, facing the fountains.
I picked up an Immortal "Damned in Black" and an Ensiferum "Victory Songs" fabric poster, although I was really eyeing the colored vinyl he has. Darkthrone, Marduk, CoB for starters....

* yep, a Darkthrone watch, next to an Opeth watch. I'm wondering if the Darkthrone watch was deliberately designed to keep really awful, inaccurate time.

$15 or so each for fabric posters. Picture-discs and the rest of the vinyl varied from $15, up to $30 for some really oddball or rare ones, or 2-disc sets.Ryan wrote:what were the prices like?
T-shirts range from around $17 to $25. Not sure about his hoodies.
Watches were $30. He also has patches and some stickers, belt buckles, CDs, DVDs, etc.
Oh, and some comics. (The sign says "music and comics" in front.)

I really really hate malls. But this sounds worth the effort.
Edit:
Oh, and PS - this makes me really happy:
