I worked at a beer distributor in Tampa for a few years. I got so much Bud, Bud Light, Corona, and other nasty half assed yellow beer I don't think I could ever have another. Our jam room had a wall of full cases, but we still bought beer. It was good for when party peoples showed up though. I would get dogged by the guys I worked with when we went out for beers and I ordered anything other than an Anheuser or affiliated beer. Those guys worshiped that shit. And Kenny Chesney for that matter. America... Fuck yeah! Shit, sorry for the cynicism. Kinda cranky at the moment.
Yeah I don't drink Bud etc. either but don't knock people for it. I just hate when people refuse to even try anything else. If you're trying to get drunk, go ahead. If you genuinely love it, go ahead.
If I want to get drunk, I'll drink liquor. I seriously can't drink BMC it makes me feel really sick. It's not just the horrible taste.

When I had money I stocked the fridge with Duvel, Corsendorker or whatever it's called, Hobgoblin, Skullsplitter, Druid Fluid, and Guinness. But I don't have money any more. I like "good beers," sure, and I'll drink them if you pay.
Also: I'm a shot n beer guy. I drink to drink and if I'm eventually shitting on myself b/c of it, so be it. Beer, likker, etc.

Understandable.
I drink for the taste and usually to get a slight, relaxing buzz. 99% of the time I drink 2 beers at a time.
I only drink to drink once a month or so at parties. And that's when I'll drink liquor.

Just drank a Guinness Extra Stout to see if it's any better than Guinness Draught. It is a tiny bit but it still sucks. Tastes metallic. Fuck Guinness.
Going to Hop City on Friday...hope to get some good stuff.

Reading this thread makes me realize I know little about beer.
i do know that I don't like gluten-free beer. I was at a party where I discovered a friend of mine has this disease that makes him allergic to gluten, so he had to bring his own gluten free shit. He let me try a sip and it tasted like goat piss.

Had my first Guinness in Dublin in '88. Like hearing "Iron Man" for the first time, it was a watershed moment in my life.

I didn't want to be the one that did that. I'm glad you did. I drank eight on St Paddy's while wandering around a cemetery in Decatur.

Nectar of the gods, my friend.
Having said all that, the extra stout is nasty.

Is that the stuff with the yellowish label that tastes like well roasted coffee?
I was kinda resistant to the draught cans when they came out. I drank Guinness exclusively from those pint nine "big bopper" bottles. But I became a quick convert.

Yeah, it has the yellow label with a couple of x's on it.
We just remodeled our house and I have plans for a kegerator, so I can drink Guinness on draft at home.

Very true. It tastes like burned coffee mixed with soy sauce.
I did have a dog named Guinness Extra Stout. He was little muscle ball pit bull who looked black, but when the sun hit him had a ruby sheen, just like Guinness. That was a helluva dog, much better than the beer.
I've taken a turn I never expected. I'm all about that that Lagunitas Lil' Sumptin (sp?). It's so grapefruity and strange and I love it. I'm drinking them fancy beers a lot and really loving them. I'm sure I'll 180 right back in cheap American piss soon. That's my comfort zone.

Not if you use it to make Guinness cupcakes:
Guinness Cupcakes Mmm Mmm Good
Except that frosting is gross so use this one:
Mmm Frosting
and it's even better if you use regular cream instead of Bailey's.
This junk is delicious.
