yeah it's not fucked up but one of the classics as far " grind house" era movies, this trend of making homages to that era is more often than not hitting the mark
like these remakes of i spit on your grave or last house on the left where the rape scenes are subdued to me miss the boat , i hope the straw dogs re-make hits the money shot on the rape
I didn't see the I spit on your grave remake but i heard it was cool. I did see the last house remake, and as a fan of the original, i thought it was awesome. I feel like when done well with heart in the right place, exploitation and revenge remakes are the only genre that have any possibility of being remotely good with modern technology. I know at least last house on the left remake didn't use any CGI, which if you're using fake looking computer effects to do your gore, you missed the point. The rape was a little bit subdued, true, but it was used to an effective point to get the same point across to a now jaded. stupid, and overall mindless audience who are going to freak out more at much less than people back then who weren't so stupid would. Its commendable for a movie with a hollywood budget and marketing campaign to stick the the roots of what they're doing in this day and age. Sorry for the tirade, i got off track there!
anyway, Lone Wolf and Cub and the american re-cut
Shogun Assasin are really worth checking out to anyone who likes gratuitous violence and bad ass stories

i watched the machine girl the other night. a young japanese girl gets her arm cut off by the yakuza while trying to get revenge for her fey brother's death. they put a machine gun on her arm (kinda like planet terror)not really fucked up, but the cgi blood makes it have a weird vibe during the more gory parts.
on the other hand, i watched hershel gordon lewis' the gore gore girls again. the fact it stars henny youngman and tries to be a comedy makes it pretty fucked up to me. bad movie, but i just can't turn away from this kind of stuff.

I STILL have not seen this. There is no excuse. I <3 Danny Trejo.
If you have Comcast, it is available on demand.
Oh sweet! I'm flying solo tonight so maybe I'll finally handle my business.
Who am I kidding, I'll probably just watch Hellraiser.
It turns out that it is HBO, if you have it.

Of course people who loved the original are going to flock to see the remake like herds of cattle into the meat grinder.
As someone who is a HUGE fan of the original I can say there is now way in hell I will ever watch that garbage.
Remakes aren't made for fans of the originals, they're made for the younger generations that never saw them.

Somebody's doing a remake of Point Break (even though they already remade it as the Fast & the Furious), proving they will literally remake anything.

IIt's just as bad as making a shitty sequel to a half-way decent movie... for example The Hangover part II. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT. If you saw the first one, you've already seen the sequel. It's the same fucking movie, just set in Thailand, and it isn't even funny. I don't recall laughing ONCE.
.
Imo pointless sequels are much worse than lame remakes. Has anyone seen the previews for Immortals? It looks like the 300 without the Spartans. It's probably just like Slashandthrash was talking about except fancy CGI and a half arsed plot.

I just watched that trailer and i'm pretty annoyed, A) because there was an actual group called the Immortals back in ancient greek times and B) because 5 years ago "from the producers of '
300'", came a movie called '
300'. A movie that already established "the Immortals", where they were way, way cooler
the only reason this movie is called "the immortals" is the same reason they made Thor an alien in the new movie, cause no one in Hollywood wants to make a movie about people fighting and killing and call it "GODS". God damnit fuck america and their christian bullshit

I think the more reasonable explanation would be that there IS a god and he fucking hates us very much.
Then again, remaking any movie WITHOUT Keanu Reeves is an improvement.

I suppose this one would be "fucked up" considering how it ends:
The Deer Hunter
Starring Robert DeNiro and Christopher Walken. Pretty long ass movie too, a little over 3 hours I think. Great movie.

Yeah, that's a good one.
I just watched "Martin." I liked it in a whole different way than I thought I would. And if it didn't say "George Romero" on it, you would never know it's his. Here's the IMDB link:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077914/ I'm not posting the trailer because it's fucking awful and gives away like half the movie.

watched a japanese (maybe korean) movie last night called I Saw the Devil. This shit is like the heroin of revenge flicks. Its super fucking violent, with excellent sickening effects and killer action.
Let me put it this way, He get his revenge, lets him go, and catches him again to torture him more, rinse and repeat. you get the revenge high several times.
Its on netflix streaming. It rules, do not miss it.
