It's the most recent thing they put out (I think) after Jon Nodveidt got out of jail. It might be a self-titled ep I think. I'm curious to see what you think of it. Do you have Somberlain?

I have been listening to the new Opeth CD the past few days.

...it is amazing. Everyone who had any doubts about them being signed to Roadrunner, about that shitty-sounding leak of their first single, trust me - you are gonna love this album. The Grand Conjuration sounds great in its final mix, and the first 3 tracks and track 5 (out of 8 total) are classic Opeth. The other 3 are ballad-type songs.

I don't like the way he sings those clean passages. I'll listen to those first 3 tracks. I've only listened to track 1 and it didn't sound like classic Opeth to me at all. It sounded like newer Opeth. I doubt they'll ever go back to that classic (i.e. first 2 albums) sound.

i caught them at the sounds of the underground thing. i wasnt really impressed. they were good but just seemed to be lackin something. dont know what though. seemed to lack energy live. maybe it was just the scorching heat at that show.

A friend brought that CD along in the car for a roadtrip last week, and I thought it was okay....but he also brought along V.A.S.T.'s self-titled, and I'm enjoying it muchly. I'm holding the CD hostage here until Dragon*Con, in fact. :)

Besides that....

np: Opeth, Ghost Reveries -- outstanding disc.
