I don't know why everyone is pissing their pants over the new album. I mean yeah it's not bad, but it gets really repetitive and sounds exactly like their past albums..

Ulcerate - Of Fracture and Failure (coincidentally, in light of the above)
Kataplexia - Supreme Authority (sort of typical Polish blasting dm)
Opeth's Royal Albert Hall DVD thing (awesome guitar failure during "Lotus Eater")

And picked these up at Criminal the other day, still absorbing:
Altar of Plagues - White Tomb (quite amazing)
Grand Magus - s/t (thank god for reissues)

At the moment of course I'm listening to WREKage. Daath on the dance floor. Hurr.

Did you like Belus? I mean, do you like it NOW?

I had insane (read: unreasonable) expectations for Belus. When I listened to it, I wanted very much to like it, and then I was let down because it didn't hit me like OMG CLASSIC NORSE BM did. Ultimately, I really really like two cuts off the record.

And, here, with Fallen, I'm trying not to do the same thing. So, I guess only time will tell.

"Rustic Workmen" is classic.

Ha ha, you ain't kidding. Now that we have two to try to get into shape either to live in or to rent or sell the harshes are compounded. However, I was never good at having landlords. They are like authority figures and I really don't like those. I managed to rent for all of my adult life prior to purchasing our first home without ever having a corporate landlord. Most were under the table situations.

I don't think that you were alone. Honestly, there really was no way that that album could ever have met the expectations that were placed on it. The young Vikernes has been too thoroughly mythologized, don't you think?
