I listened to one Celeste album and thought parts were cool but overall it sucked...

Not really. The band that came to mind for me was Black Anvil.

Definitely not opposed to giving it another chance. It seems like it has all the right elements but just didn't click for me.

Good call on the Black Anvil and Castevet parallels. Believe it or not, I thought of really early Training for Utopia as well.

Holy shit, that's a name I haven't seen in a loooooooooooooong time.
All that Solid State/T&N "metal" stuff was my introduction to heavy music back in 7th grade...
