Oh, I read it. But I waited until she left. It's very similar to those activity books they give you in Sunday School where you learn the moral du jour and then do some related activity. The other lapsed Catholics in the room know what I'm talking about. The publisher is one of those deals where you order like 50 at a time and they run them off as ordered.
Yeah, that's a vanity press. In my work I'm given a lot of that kind of stuff. It's nearly always bad. And moralistic. Funny, that. I always take my promo copies back to my desk and promptly list them for sale on Amazon. They never sell. Good for your sister that she has a hobbie, I suppose.

My husband does similar work, but works well over fifty hours a week. How do so many other people in that line of work seem to have it so much easier. Y'all hiring?

Is there any narrartive or prose in that book or is all more freeform/poetry? I've been looking for a copy for a while, but not come across one yet.

Me too, babe. It correctly implies harrowing trauma, flashbacks and night sweats.

NO WAY, BITCH. This shit's like the Supreme Court -- one of us has to die before we give it up. DON'T EVEN TRY. I WILL CUT YOU.

I finished the horror collection, now the husband wants me to read "A Drifting Life" by Yoshihiro Tatsumi. Not sure why, but whatever, it's two inches thick so it should keep me busy for a while. At my awesome job. That badcarburetor cannot have.

I tried reading some of the neighborhood paper that I don't subsrcribe to but gets nonetheless chucked into my driveway every day. "The Brookhaven Reporter", I believe.

It's basically what I expected: community announcements and lots of right-wing drivel on the opinion page.

/great story, I know

HA! Tell you what, he can handle all the phone calls. I'm not a "people person."

Some days even I'm not sure. It kind of goes like this:

We have an AS/400 system that has to be monitored 24/7. There are four of us, and we each work exactly one quarter of the week. I'm day shift Wednesday through Saturday. We're basically security guards for this thing. Messages pop up all day long and we're trusted to know the important ones from the useless ones. Important ones get escalated to folks with actual power (not us), otherwise we just hit ENTER and ignore them. We run reports, swap tapes, free up passwords (Mr. Badcarburetor can have that one too), unstick printers (and this), and very minor hardware support.

If nothing is happening it means we've been successful in maintaining the status quo, and I get to spend all day reading and knitting and dicking around with y'all on this forum. But if we're busy, that means the shit has hit the fan, HAL is pissed off, and people are shouty. Those are the sad times.

Whoa. What? You're like the black guy (not the limo driver) in Die Hard. Or something like that.

"THE QUARTERBACK IS TOAST."

I don't know how you did it, but that's exactly the analogy my brain was searching for. I'm that dude.

I had to pick up the "Snellville Shopper" or whatever it's called because Chris needed ad rates for a client. I flipped through the thing and it was all about dowagers attending social events and why a stop sign had to be moved. I recommend it if you're having second thoughts about suicide -- it should do the trick.

Pursuant to our previous conversation re Glenn Danzig is a tool:

Image

This photo is larger than actual size. Of Glenn Danzig and of the comic. It's really funny, it's only $4, and it made Danzig sad:

Those book titles are killing me: Werewolves, Hitler's Mom, Twilight, etc.
