Now that I have know of so far, nothing yet from the top of my head. But I had drank other beers like Tencate, PBR (whenever Im too poor to afford Guinness), Coors Light, Steel Reserves, and Sam Adams.

If only to learn how good the Guinness really is. Guinness is the quintessential stout, the beer that the rest try to emulate. I had my first pint in Dublin in 1988. I've had all the stouts that you've listed and several more. The only thing I might drink these days is Murphy's, and that is just for variety. Bautista Guinness is easily the best.[/quote]

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout
Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout
Left Hand Milk Stout (this is the beer that got me into beer)

With exception of the Duck-Rabbit, I'm backing all of these with the caveat that the Left Hand Milk Stout may only be drank on tap. It just ain't the same bottled.

That Young's is amazing stuff. Along the same lines check the Well's Banana Bread Beer. I know it sounds odd, but it truly is the thing dreams are made of...

I would back a number of Metalfreak's choices, especially the Blue Moon during this hot ass summer. So nice and refreshing with a slice of orange. Mmmm....

My recent thing has been anything from http://www.wychwood.co.uk/ (they make Hobgoblin among other fine brews), especially the Scarecrow. It's the shit, so light and refreshing, but still possessing character. It's really unlike anything else out there. Check out their website. It's metal as fuck.

If you are interested trying out a variety of quality bevvies, the absolute best selection in ATL is at Giant Package at Toco Hills on North Druid Hills. As good as the various Green's and Tower's are, Giant cannot be beat for depth adn quality of selection.

At this point as much as I enjoy a quality beverage, I'd usually rather drink watery American cheap beer. It's just light, cooling and cheap. Nothing wrong with all that.

Sheesh, didnt think there would be a few negativity on Guinness. But not like I care. Guinness was my first I bought on my 21st B-day at the Pagan Fest 2008 and still is the best damn beer.

@Metalfreak: Blue Moon is good, I like that, and definitely Corona. I have not have those in a while when I would go to the Plaza for a Saturday Spookshow or when I use to go to Splatter Cinema (cant because of work on week nights). Like Tencate, give me a sliced lime for it and Im set. Heineken is alright, only if there is nothing else available. I havent had those in forever. Budweiser? Sorry if I am a negative nancy here but that stuff makes piss more delicious than buud-wise-er (<-frogs speaking) and it's pretty a white trash beer. Of course, I do like the "Beer for Bums" Cult .45s. Something I like to snag when I really want more yet barely have $5.

@Gamefreac: I usually shop my poisons at Liqour Stores (Jagermeister, Mead) so I'll definitely spot it. Unless if I do a roundtrip vacation to Ireland, I cant say the difference of the Guinness.

@Stewvee: You hit the nail right on the head, sir! You definitely know what Im talking about. You just got to get past the black coffee-like taste to it and you be downing them like water whenever you open your first bottle of the day. It's been sweet tasting to me for three years.


Now, how about the liquor? anyone bringing a flask of it? I'll be having Jagermeister and Mead (only mead will be in the flask).

Blue Moon is my go-to if I have the money for expensive beer or Octoberfest if it's the right time of year. 9 times out of 10 i'm buying one of 4 beers: Highlife, Steel Reserve, Kvlt 45, or Yeungling Black n Tans if I feel like treating myself for just a little extra. I've also been buying quite a bit of the lemonade flavor Four Loko... shit is delicious.

While I enjoy fancy expensive beers I just don't really care enough to spend the extra money on them. Even if a beer is a little harsh it's only for the first can or two and then it's all delicious.

edit* and for liquor Crown Royal is what I'd drink every day if I could afford it but Evan Williams and Ancient Age do the trick just fine. I used to drink a lot of different stuff but now I only really care to drink whiskey... or moonshine.

Never had Left Hand Milk Stout on tap but I will if I ever see it.

I saw the Banana Bread Beer at Total Wine the other day so the next time I get a mix a 6 pack, I'll pick that up and try it.

I wanna go to Green's and some other stores in Atlanta but I live almost an hour away. My girlfriend lives in Marietta though so that's the only time I could justify driving to Atlanta for beer.

I don't knock people that like the cheap macro stuff. I just don't like it at all. I just want people to try the good stuff to see how much better it is. If they try it and don't like it, that's fine. Drink Bud Light if you want. I just know some people that are so set in their ways that they won't even give it a chance. They're missing out.

This thread convinced me to pick up some of that Young's Double Chocolate and a few other brews on my way home from work last night. Shit's tasty. Definitely going to buy some more in the near future.

Lots of delicious beer mentioned in this thread. I am a big fan of the Young's Double Chocolate. I will also add the Rogue Shakespeare Stout and the Chocolate Stout (basically the Shakespeare with chocolate added) as some of my favorites in the stout category.
