Ahhh. That was indeed a legendary tour. But '86 was the Ulimate Sin, and the band was from S.F., not L.A.badcarburetor wrote:If memory serves, '86 was the Bark at the Moon tour. Crue opened. Or I could be totally wrong as there have been a number of $4 pitchers in my lifetime.

Damn, I went to that show, too, but cannot recall the opener. SF? Hmm...I need another hint.

Hi, Kay. My name is Klifffffe. I played in a band called Metallica. I wore bells and a Dawn of the Dead t shirt and a jean jacket even when it was hot outside. I drank Coors Banquet beer and smoked THAI STICK.Ryan wrote:
My band opened for Ozzy Osbourne on his ULTIMATE SIN tour. But we did not play ATLANTA. That's why this stupid drunk kid named Stew and his friends Pete and John drove to NC and TN to see my band play.
Actually, my band didn't play ATLANTA until I WAS DEAD. AH HA HA HA HA!

Motley Crue opened for Ozzy on the Bark at the Moon show in Atlanta, which was at the fucking OMNI.

Yes! And Justice tour... I don't recall the openers. Great show though. And then I think that summer was at Lakewood with The Cult.

More information than you could possibly want on Metallica's gig history.
I saw the Cult on that tour. Ian Astbury was drunk. He fell down. Apparently, he coudn't hang with Alcoholica.
According to the Encyclopedia Metallica, a certain member of this very forum saw Metallica on August 25, 1983, opening for a Raven. A free beer to the person that can guess!
Hey! We should move this to THE HALL OF KINGS!!!

If this is accurate, then I just considered this "An Evening with..." because I've not liked Queensryche since their first four song EP. Same goes with Lakewood as the Cult has always been of limited interest.sleyja wrote:I think the Justice tour was at the Omni w/ Queensryche.
There was also an Omni show where a short film was shown before the band. I really don't think there was an opener that night, but clearly my memory regarding Metallica has been through a daquiri blender.
My money is on Jimi having seen Metallica open for Raven. I still remember him showing up at my parent's house on the night Ride the Lightning was released. He stoked beyond belief. He was all, "PLAY IT NOOOOOW!" I was all, "huh?" That was my introduction to Metallica and it was good.

That four song EP is fucking kickass too.
The Cult's cool, man. I like LOVE and love their AC/DC ripoff, ELECTRIC.
