At the airport, debating whether to get on the plane train or walk to the A terminal, I find a family of five in front of me, probably from somewhere in middle Georgia. They are waiting for the plane train.
Dad: is thaaaat uh bay-und? Bolt Thrower?
Me: yes. They are from England.
Dad: whul, I've never heard 'em, but that's a purty cool shirt.
Me: thanks.
I decided to walk.

The airport makes for some great people watching. At the car rental place at O'Hare in Chicago a few weeks back there was an entire family of five Hispanic metalheads. The parents looked more like throwbacks to the hair days and the kids had on death metal t-shirts with illegible logos.
Also, at the gym last week was a dude in a SLAYER shirt having an animated coversation with the desk crew. Not sure if he ever lifted anything.

The man was "yelling something and pointing at my police car," the cop wrote. "I could not understand what he was saying." A female officer on patrol said she clearly heard the man screaming, "Fuck the police." According to the police report, the man was "screaming at random people in the parking lot, using the 'f' word often." Together, the two cops detained the man. "He was putting his cigarette out on his wrist, burning his wrist," the male cop wrote. "He kept screaming two words: 'Metallica' and 'Heavy Metal.'" (OK, Mr. Officer, that's three words.) Cops arrested the man and put him in the patrol car. He kept screaming "Metallica" and "Heavy Metal" all the way to jail.

At work and trying to get a closer view of a rooftop and I see that this dude is excited to see the Google Maps vehicle...

I'm on an AFI kick right now (who are we kidding, when am I not on an AFI kick...) but just watched their music video for Silver & Cold for the first time in years and years. Not sure how I never noticed this, but their guitarist has a Bathory backpatch. Awesome.
It's also quite fitting because he sort of looks like a girl.

What do you think of Blaqk Audio? I've been spinning their 2 albums recently and both are good, but don't quite catch me as much as I hoped.Brian wrote:I'm on an AFI kick right now (who are we kidding, when am I not on an AFI kick...) but just watched their music video for Silver & Cold for the first time in years and years. I think those dudes did punk very well, gothy rock very well, Smiths-influenced rock very well (or at least well enough for me to force myself to like it), but I just can't hang with BA. In their defense, though, I haven't bothered with the second album and haven't heard the first in probably 6-7 years.

So I'm still half asleep amd partially coffied this morning, putering around the kitchen after breakfast. My four-year old is sitting at the kitchen table, when i hear him yell, "LOOKOUT!"
Muscles tense. Pupils dilate. Heart rate increases.
I look over at him. He then says, "the sky is falling down. Lookout. The sun is going black. Black."

I'm working with an incredibly tolerant tech support guy who is Finnish. I made him a little surprise for when he remotes into my machine today:

I hope that says "good morning" and not something incredibly offensive. I guess I'll find out later today.
Anyway I'm gonna go ahead and lock this down, so I'll call you losers from Helsinki. Smell ya later.
