Honestly, it's very similar to the Mercian Sphere (which isn't a bad thing because that album rules).Ryan wrote:Nope, how is it? I just came across The Mercian Sphere the other day. I listened to it once and I liked it but nothing really blew me away. Then again, it took Jane Doe a lot of spins to become one of my favorite albums ever.log^Anarchy wrote:So goodGameFreac wrote: New ConvergeI think I like it better than Jane Doe...

I actually found a stream of it online after I replied to your post, I dug it but I think I like Mercian Sphere a bit better on first listen... though stuff like this needs a few spins before I can really form a solid opinion.GameFreac wrote:Honestly, it's very similar to the Mercian Sphere (which isn't a bad thing because that album rules).Ryan wrote:Nope, how is it? Thoughts? I dig it but still think NCTD is their crowning achievement.MS_39455 wrote:Hooded Menace - Effigies of Evil

Some pretty rad "new" heavy metal from TX in the vein of Borrowed Time or something. Diggin it. "Old Bangers" and Brian take note especially. You might hate this Stew... i never know with you

I'm with you on this one. Got a little bit boring on the first listen. Paid way too much for the special edition vinyl to get that 7". Double LP at 45 RPM with only two songs on each side? Don't know how common that is, but the vinyl is super thin and the B side sounds a little off because it's already warped. Album art and layout are pretty lame. Kind of unimpressed this time.Ryan wrote:Thoughts? I dig it but still think NCTD is their crowning achievement.MS_39455 wrote:Hooded Menace - Effigies of Evil

Oof, that's total bullshit on the version you got not being 180 gram like the other two DLP versions w/o the 7" since they're a solid $13 less... fucking cash grab. I actually dig the album art but it's certainly a bit of a departure from their typical aesthetic. Total agree on it "getting boring" like halfway through I forget that I'm listening to it and focus on other things and then only realize it's over when there's silence. It's not bad by any means but as an extreme skeptic of all things slow I didn't think the riffs/song writing was on par with their previous stuff... certainly not enough to keep me entertained. Seemed like they focused way more on the little melodies and harmonizing rather than the heavy riffs.MS_39455 wrote:I'm with you on this one. Got a little bit boring on the first listen. Found this band the other day. Already incredibly hyped, apparently. 200 copies of their demo sold out in 4 days, a few weeks later 100 more copies were made, gone already. 300 copies in under a month for a brand new band.
Soundwise though, could be the new Repugnant.
