I do love to "read" about mounds and mound of cocaine. I've been meaning to check that one out for a while. Now it's moved up to the top of my list. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm going to check out Asrynth's list because I'm pretty sure those books are also about mounds and mounds of cocaine. And antics.

Speaking of mounds of cocaine, I just read GN'R drummer Steven Adler's "autobiography" Fucking A, that dude is a mess and very lighthearted and funny. I just don't know how he didn't name the book, Yeah, I AM the Dude Who Was Thrown out of Guns N' Roses for Doing Too Many Drugs.

Right now I'm reading Me, The Mob and the Music: One Helluva Ride with Tommy James and the Shondells, by Tommy James and some other dude. It's an interesting look at the music industry operated and changed from the mid-sixties into the seventies. The artists had no idea of their worth, cranked out numerous albums per year and behind the scenes songwriters who created dozens of number one hits were considered disposable. I like that kind of sixties bubblegum and the mob, but this book is only very surface level and doesn't get into anywhere near the level of grit I hoped for with a title like this. [/i]

I just bought "Guns Up!" and Soldat. They're both war books, "Guns Up!" is about a soldier who was a machine gunner in Vietnam. It fucking rules. Soldat is about a German solider in WWII. Haven't gotten to it but it looks cool.

and Pat let me his Norse Myths book, cool as shit.

Just started Dog Blood by David Moody. It's the follow up to Hater. Since I'm not far enough in to this one to have an opinion on it, here's my impression of Hater:

Apparently this guy first published this book on the internet and now it's gotten a full release through St. Martin's Press as the first in a trilogy. The story is set in an unnamed English city. Strange and random acts of incredible violence start happening all over the country and, predictably, the nation falls into a state of chaos. It's not a zombie story, but it does have a similar feel. My biggest complaints are that the narrative could be a bit more tense and the cover art is a complete and total rip-off of Ralph Steadman. Overall it's still a decent enough read and would probably interest quite a few folks on here.

I'm pretty amped to finally have Dog Blood in my hands.

Word is that Guillermo Del Toro has bought the rights to Hater and the film adaptation is in the works right now.

This weekend I blew through Imperial Bedrooms, by Bret Easton Ellis. It's the 25 year later follow to Less Than Zero. It's throw away crap like most of his books, but it's also pretty fucking sick like several of his later titles. BEE is a guilty pleasure for me.

Last one I read was Glamorama. Jesus...

So how is this? Does it take place in L.A.? Is Bateman in it? Do people find odd piles of confetti everywhere?

I'm pretty sure I didn't read Lunar _____. So this was my first one since Glamorama, too, I think.

It's OK. Vapid. Typical BEE, now that he's gone all twisted. There are song lyrics (including well veiled X reference), expensive cars and high end fashions. Just what I want when I pick up one of his book.

Yes, to LA. No Bateman and no confetti is found.

It does have Clay, Julian and Blair. My, how Clay has changed...There are lots of cryptic text messages.

For any more info you'll have to sacrifice 90-120 minutes of your life like I did. 8)

Goddamit. Maybe I'll wait a few months and find this at Book Nook for 1/2 price...

Get it from the library. If you are in Cabbagetown, you're in Fulton County. I know it's there. Paying for a book that take's an hour to read is craziness.

Never read that. Just sounded pointlessly depressing. Not my way to spend my limited free time. Did I miss anything?
