My G/F is looking in to getting a brand new GTI as well. We have already made one online I think its going to cost about 26,000$ might as well get it fully loaded. (anything worth doing is worth spending a little extra on)

Get it fully loaded (package 2), or you'll regret it.Death2all wrote:My G/F is looking in to getting a brand new GTI as well. We have already made one online I think its going to cost about 26,000$ might as well get it fully loaded. (anything worth doing is worth spending a little extra on)
The only thing you might want to wait til 2007 for is a better stereo system, unless you don't care or were going to do audio yourself.
I'm sure there are plenty of people on the Vortex who can help you with that.
Otherwise, SHOP AROUND.
Get on the regional boards on the Vortex and make threads about being ready to buy, and watch the dealers come out of the woodwork with deals under MSRP.
That's how we got ours ($600 under invoice).
It had to be picked up in Dallas (from San Angelo), but it was well worth the time.
I am sitting here in our front office at working reading the new Hot Rod mag and they have an artical about the pontiac solstice. Seems as though this little car is a bad ass. The solstice boast a nice 505hp it runs 1/4 mile in mid to high 10s 0-60 in 3 sec. The Solsstice will pull more than 1g on the skidpad without resorting to slicks. All this time I never really liked or thought much of any pontiac.

I don't know much about it; although I'm pretty sure we'll never own another American car again.Death2all wrote:I am sitting here in our front office at working reading the new Hot Rod mag and they have an artical about the pontiac solstice. I know this is kind of late but we had a guy in the shop with his Civic SI he had a few mods done to it but I was telling him about this thread in the forum. So anyway I was looking back at some of the first few post and I came across the post about the civic si and the post that said it was only running a 1/4 mile in 15 sec. It accrued to me that maybe true but we are talking about a VW that has a turbo and a Honda that doesn't. So anyway he was telling me that he went out and forked out a grand or so into a nice turbo charger. Which he didn't really get a chance to tune (I am guessing he installed it himself, as we do a lot of work for this guy with after market shit) he was saying that before he ran it off in a ditch it was running a 1/4 in high 12's and low 13's which isn't bad so I would have to say that maybe the SI would give the GTI a run for its money.

My car only runs 14s & it's a 2.0 with an APR 91 program in it - & I have no shame in sharing that.Death2all wrote:I know this is kind of late but we had a guy in the shop with his Civic SI he had a few mods done to it but I was telling him about this thread in the forum. I think Andy was the one trying to showboat with his idiotic challenge to race on 285.
I race at the 1/4 mi. track here in San Angelo and in San Antonio and I do autocross, and I would never be so cocky as to challenge someone like that because A) I'm not a retard and B) I don't have problems with people who drive other kinds of cars.
Autocross was an awesome way for me to build respect for other drivers, VW or not - we did it last weekend in San Antonio and it's one of the most fun things I've ever done.
There was a dude with a CRX I rode with and that shit was insane - I definitely have a newfound respect for Hondas after this weekend, but I'd still never buy one.

Andys problem was that you or I should say your husband was to ready to race without knowing what kind of mods Andy has done to his car.

I certainly was not, and you're also neglecting the fact that we asked him multiple times what his mods were and he refused to even tell us.Death2all wrote:holly wrote:My car only runs 14s & it's a 2.0 with an APR 91 program in it - & I have no shame in sharing that.Death2all wrote:I know this is kind of late but we had a guy in the shop with his Civic SI he had a few mods done to it but I was telling him about this thread in the forum. Yeah it's kind of like playing poker if you have a good hand you don't want to shoot your mouth off about it otherwise your not going to take anyones money. Then again on the other hand if you don't have shit you want to bluff to tell you the truth I would rather my car look stock that way you can hustle. But these are just my opinions I don't really care I don't have anything againts you anymore holly.holly wrote:I certainly was not, and you're also neglecting the fact that we asked him multiple times what his mods were and he refused to even tell us.Death2all wrote:holly wrote:My car only runs 14s & it's a 2.0 with an APR 91 program in it - & I have no shame in sharing that.Death2all wrote:I know this is kind of late but we had a guy in the shop with his Civic SI he had a few mods done to it but I was telling him about this thread in the forum.
