Had been slavishly awaiting, and am now obsessing over, the new Furia, which doesn't really sound like the kind of thing I usually like, yet for whatever reason is making it way too easy to keep playing (well, streaming, for now) over and over again. Part of the appeal is the production: sounds enormous and live and loose, but ominous and -- praise the forlorn gods of the bottom end -- bass heavy. It's like Earth took time-release amphetamines then made a black metal record.

Or maybe my neurons were frying from the sensory overload of the new DSO and CdG and I needed music with breathing room.
Also that new Agatus is a nice kick in the ass, very Iron Maiden vs Rotting Christ ... or something. (I just wish they'd led off the album with the second track; the first is kinda plodding.)

Looking forward to: Panphaaaaaaaaage

Blindly picked up Grudzień za grudniem when it first came out with a ton of other Polish stuff during a huge Negative Existence sale. Definitely stood out among all of that lot, but I didn't think that they were all that well known until the surprising amount of recent chatter surrounding this new album. Well deserved attention.DeathfareDevil wrote:Had been slavishly awaiting, and am now obsessing over, the new Furia, which doesn't really sound like the kind of thing I usually like, yet for whatever reason is making it way too easy to keep playing (well, streaming, for now) over and over again. I decided to give that latest album a listen. Kinda reminds me of maybe a mix of Emptiness and Triptykon? I dunno. I am enjoying it though.MS_39455 wrote:Blindly picked up Grudzień za grudniem when it first came out with a ton of other Polish stuff during a huge Negative Existence sale. Speaking of Emptiness, they've got two new advance tracks out for their next album. These sound even weirder than Nothing but the Whole, which blew me away. It's like they've expanded on the non-weighty parts of their music, nothing ever really hits. Maybe the full album experience will be different.
