this one never really clicked with me before, I think because I either wanted or expected it to be similar to fas, which I had first. but more recently I've been able to more appreciate it for what it is and enjoy it.

I think most of my plagued allies and compatriots know that I'm not a vinyl listener by preference at all, but I received an immaculate first press LP version of SMRC as a gift a few weeks ago and have listened to it quite a bit again lately. One of the only instances where I may actually prefer the vinyl version of a modern recording. It doesn't hurt that SMRC (and Kénôse shortly thereafter) breathed new life in to black metal in general for me personally (lyrically, the production, all elevated in my mind). I felt like I hadn't been excited about new music like that since I first started listening to metal metal more than a decade before and rarely since. Can't say they've held my attention as much after Kénôse.
