any suggestions for record labels for Experimental Metal??

Post by Aami » Thu January 26th, 2006, 3:42 am

Does anyone have any good suggestions for record labels here?

I would like to send some demo cd's to any record label interested in promoting a talented band called Gravy, that performs an interesting and unique blend of genres we call Experimental Metal or Art-Metal or whatever.
They have a variety of songs that switch genres and time signatures and blend many different styles in one, defaulting to metal.

The press has called them:
hyper, Zappa and Mike Patton-inspired funhouse-mirror antics
and
intense, art and prog-rock quintet that plays moderately abrasive, technical metal with an absurdist edge and a theatrical stage show.

thanks for your help!

Willowtip records is what comes first to my mind. Bands like Alarum, Capharnaum, and Electro Quarterstaff are pretty innovative and unique Id say. Alarum is more different than the other two but when it comes to "experimental metal" You gotta go with a label that signs crotchduster!

Maybe try Patton's Ipecac label? The End Records also puts out a lot of avant-garde stuff like that too.

p.s. thanks for the link to that Wesley Willis soundboard, that has made my day and quite possibly my weekend.

Yes, they are definitely Mike Patton fans! One of the guys from Gravy made that Wesley Willis soundboard for my site. Thanks for the compliment! -Rock Over London, Rock on Chicago...

The End Records, as mentioned. Maybe Sensory or Inside/Out America if it's exceptionally good (but not deathy).
