new iron maiden
anyone pick it up yet? came out today, im gonna pick it up a little later!!!
I'm a dork and did the pre-order package where you get the CD + DVD + T-SHIRT, and I'm happy to say that it actually ARRIVED ON TIME TODAY!!! That's the first time I've ever had a pre-ordered CD actually show up when it's supposed to. So far I like it, but it's not ground breaking by any means. If you're expecting another Powerslave album, you'll have better luck finding a time machine to re-live the past. I gotta say that for being "Unmastered" this CD sounds damn good. I'm sure many are going to hate on it because it's almost like "Easy Listening Metal" and very epic at times. Hell, it's IRON MAIDEN, so it's worth picking up regardless...

i like it so far, its not the best, dance of death is better, but its good so far.... mine came with a free patch, but once again, you will need a time machine to hear maiden putting out albums as good as the first 7.......TheKshatriya wrote:i wasnt very impressed, and maiden is my favorite band ever.
I wonder whats up with this revival of Maiden all of a sudden. I got over them in like 89 or something heh. I went to see them at the Omni in 84 I think, when they had this giant "Eddie" puppet walking around on stage with them. I think Yngwie Malmsteen opened for them at that show, so it might have been more like 86. I used to really get into them and had all their old albums on vinyl. Too bad I got rid of em -- I bet they're worth a fortune now. :\

I like it even if it is mid-tempo and pretty epic at times. I think it's good that they're not jumping on the speed metal bandwagon (although there are some great bands playing that style). There are a lot of good moments on the album, but none of them quite live up to the "when you're lying in your sleep..." part in Dance of Death. It gets me every time.
Basically it's not as good as Dance of Death, but it's better than No Prayer and probably Fear of the Dark.
