They finally made one!
And about damned time too... they always said that flying cars would be in use by 2000, so they're about 6 years late...

I used to want this with every fiber of my being. But after X years of driving in this city and others (such as the perpetual drunken nightmare that is New Orleans), I find the idea more than a little scary.
Most people shouldn't be allowed to drive...let alone to fly.
On the other hand, from a purely Darwinian standpoint it could do the planet some good I suppose.

My thinking exactly, Alan. I figure we wait a few months while all the stupid people kill themselves off with the first generation flying cars, and by the time the herd is "thinned", the technology will get better, and the next generation will be much faster and better and safer. There will be force fields around them so that if one of them falls, it cushions the fall, and collisions will be harmless. And of course by that time everyone in the world will be smarter and better.Strange wrote:I used to want this with every fiber of my being. I suggest wearing a helmet while waiting out that first phase.kfoll wrote:My thinking exactly, Alan. Yeah, the first few years will be kinda slow. Sitting in a bomb shelter watching Simpsons DVDs...kfoll wrote:Yeah, and I know where your bunker is too, Alan... But once we can return to the surface: It's Mad Max time! WOO! It'll be like living in the first Carnivore album!
Don't know how the future went from the Jetsons to Mad Max, but I'm thinking it will be somewhere in between anyway. Notice that on the Jetsons you never saw the surface of the planet?

Haha For the record I have no "Garden delights" to speak of. Hell, I should grow some, since that was the primary luxury item that had to be cut from the budget when my first child was born. But growing implies intent to sell and then DFACS can take away yo chil'ren. Ah the vicious circle of legislating morality.ProstheticHead12 wrote:I just started homebrewing - I'll be happy to exchange my services for some of your 'garden' delights.
I do work in a bomb shelter though.
