Let's do it for real... boardwide drinkfest

Post by Greg » Wed October 25th, 2006, 3:41 pm

So based on chatter from the "favorite bars" thread it seems a lot of you would be up for some sort of board-wide get-together at a bar somewhere around town.

I propose we go ahead and set a date for the 25th of November. That's Thanksgiving weekend so all of you should have time off from work/school/whatever for a serious invasion somewhere, plus this gives you a month's time to prepare your liver.

Ok, I've done my part in getting a date set. Where would all of you want to meet? The last time we did one of these was mainly a Wrekage hosts + Blaze + that guy from atlmetal.com thing to kinda hammer out what we wanted the boards to be like, this time we'll play nice and include the rest of you plebians. We met at a bar at the end of the strip in the Highlands called George's (I mentioned it as a favorite of mine in the bar thread, it's next door to Moe's & Joe's), I'd be fine with doing it there again, but post any suggestions you'd have otherwise.

And as for who's invited - I'd like to think everyone on the board would be welcome, no matter if they were ever in Level or not. I have a feeling most of us are nicer in person than the assholes we play on the internet, and beer would probably play a big part in helping us all get along anyways.

Oh, and of course you have to be 21 to attend...

EDIT:
I hijacked your post Greg and added the poll. - Mike

Well if we're attempting that many people we need somewhere that's big enough. Isn't George's too small?
Brick Store sounds cool to me. I've never been and want to go.
Unless everyone wants to go somewhere that mainly deals in cheap American beer.

They have the cheap domestics there too, but where's the fun in ordering that from a 10 pound leather bound tome of ales?

Brick Store's a decent sized place, but the upstairs part is pretty small. We'd need to get there early and stay all day to make it a true Viking-style invasion and drive out all the infidel Emory hipsters and pseudo-emo kids that normally wander around downtown Decatur, which I'd totally be down for too. They can go faggot up the Java Monkey or something.

Hahaha. The pretension in the Java Monkey can be cut with a knife. Also, the stench of failed/pretend artist is in the air. Too many losers typing away on laptops writing shitty novels or pretending to do so.
I've only been there once with good reason.

Brick Store is the deal. I've yet to go to George's. John's got no excuse since his bitch ass works in the Highlands.

Sign me the fuck up whatever the plan shall be. Since it's on the weekend I will get my motherfuckin' Viking on. The 'Swede will let loose the leash. Plus it would be unlike me to encounter WREKage Mike in a state of Sobriety.

Let us make much boozery.

Love, Mikael.

I'm down with anything... the Highlands sounds good since there are so many places, if we get tired of one we can move on to another.

LOL NeuroMike, you got one of them helmets with horns on it?

I'm plannin' on gettin' me Scotch on meself, so you'd better hide the bagpipes! :)

So who's got a couch I can crash on?

Yeah, me too. Either that, or I will observe moderation, which would be an absolute shame.

No horned helmets, but I do have some team Sweden football jerseys.

I'm in. BrickStore is cool but I'll go for about anything.

See, the radio guys are responsible and smart enough to make this happen!

Ok, looks like we have the most votes for Brick Store in downtown Decatur so far. Downtown Decatur is only about a 10-15 minute ride from the Highlands for a reference point for those of you unfamiliar with where it is. You basically take Ponce/78 East out of Atlanta for about 5 miles, take a right onto Church Street, and you're there.

I'll let this topic sit for a while so everyone gets a chance to see it and comment on potential meeting sites/dates.
