They're releasing three related CDs....is this one supposed to be the non-crunchy one? We listened to it at WREKage and it sounded like it'd be more at home at a Catholic mass....

Yeah, the 2nd is mellow with added instrumentation - the first is totally classical from what I understand. The 3rd is supposed to be their 'heaviest to date' but I haven't heard it yet of course. And yeah, on the vocals they purposely recorded it in the same way you might for gregorian chant. Very operatic/classical/gothic/doom but if you explore their music you'll find they're actually very dynamic. It's a more delicate and profound way of accenting shifts in the music with how they plot it out (again, like classical, etc). So...may feel boring or drawn out if you're in the wrong perspective or feeling like 'ok, get on with it.' Maybe that goes without saying...just thought I'd throw that out there.

BTW, they're touring the US in a few months. I think there's some possibility of an Atlanta date.

Yeah I saw that! Man, I really do hope they come to Atlanta. Reports I've heard from their other recent shows have been great. Think you'd go?

Well blast. They'll be right in Raleigh, NC not but 4 or so hours from me during the time I'll be up north seeing 2 other bands I've wanted to see for a long time. Hope there will be a 'next time' but what's to be done. Ah well.

Depends on the day and my work schedule.

I'm already going to Texas for a friends' metal fest in July -- almost as crazy as those who went to Minnesota in January for Heathen Crusade, just the other side of the thermometer :D -- plus there's Blue Hole during midsummer, and ProgPower and Dragon*Con later in the fall.
My vacation hours are running like water.
