Hopefully this list has something to do with total combined weight of all the band members and nothing to do with music.

A lot of ppl around the net have been giving a <_< to this list. Some choices are pretty good, some are...really...well...just fucked up. I'd like to know who came up with the list and what they were smoking at the time. :sm0k3:

Nah, if that were true, every band Gene Hoglan had ever played in would be up there. Not only that, but Crowbar would be #1! :wh4cky:

Why do I see grunge bands up there, they shouldn't share the same list as real metal bands.

At least Limp Bizkit isn't up there.

So AC/DC, a rock band with extremely simplistic drumming, is heavier than both Obituary and Death? :wh4cky: This explains why I've browsed, but never bought an issue of Revolver. I remember seeing once in their pages that Decapitated is a grim black metal band. There are usually some scantily clad women in it, which is really its only redeeming quality.

Not to mention that Decapitated is heavier than all but about 3 of those bands...

According to the condom wrapper hanging up on the chalkboard at the WREK studio, Lamb of God is the hardest band on the planet, so at least they have that going for them even if they aren't as heavy as Kyuss *snicker* or Sleep *giggle* or Nirvana *ahahahahahahahaha*.

I don't think there's anybody here that will agree with the title of this list, 'heaviest bands ever'. So assuming they don't have a great mastery of written expression, lets assume they meant something different like 'lifetime achievment' or 'bands deserving some credit'. Well I scan the list and see crap like Led Zepplin (the most overrated rock band of all time), I have no idea what these people are trying to say.... :3y3s:

Maybe we should compile our own lists of 'heaviest bands ever' and submit an aggregate back to revolver as a correction to their article. We could do a weighted vote to compile everyone's results into a final list. Whaddya say?

I think some of you are giving this list and its creators more credit than they deserve.

I'm up for it. The question to me though is, "what is heavy?" The one common ground that comes to my mind is the ability of a band to evoke headbanging. I think I'll use that as my criteria.

Sepultura definitely belongs on there, then.
Was Grave on there? *scans list*
Superjoint Ritual?
Cannibal Corpse?
Although I can do without Cannibal Corpse...some bands are at a disadvantage. Should 'grindcore' bands be ranked 'harder' than say, doom metal? Or whatever you want to call it...
