Heavy Metal in Hottopic and Bestbuy. (where is the weirdist)

Post by Generubin » Sat August 29th, 2009, 3:18 am

As much as I hate Hottopic. I manage to find the stranged Heavy Metal cds I thought I would never see at those stores or thought no one but a select few (as in anyone on these forums would know). I have found Wolves In The Throne Room, Obscura, Exodus, Kreator, a few Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, etc etc etc. all in those stores.

So I was curious what is the strangest metal cd you ever bought from a place you thought would never sell it.

Not a CD, but I found a bunch of Priest, Motorhead, Mercyful Fate, Megadeth, Loudness, Accept, etc vinyls for $1 at the thrift store run by a church in Peachtree City.

Draconian. I never thought I'd see that at the Kennesaw Hot Topic.

They had the best of Burzum, along with Immortal and ONLY Cannibal Corpse's debut album. They also had Eluveitie and just some other crazy shit I never thought I'd see.

I think it was at an FYE in Gwinnet Mall where they had a decent metal section. There weren't rarities in it but it was still decent.
They had you do a drug test and the forgot to test for drugs???

very true. You're not gonna find an Exulcerate album next to Exodus in Best Buy or Hot Topic. 8)

Metal may not be underground but I promise that 85% of the population that listens to "metal" listens to metalcore. Plus I don't know anyone (where I live at least) that knows of Incantation or Unleashed.

If you're not already getting the Unleashed newsletter, I highly recommend it. It's like a little ray of Viking sunshine in your inbox. Nothing brightens up my morning like an email that starts off with "Warriors!!!" You will not be sorry: http://www.unleashed.se

(Psst - necroodin: I finally learned how to use the PM feature. Sorry about that. The internet is hard.)
