Those Norse S.O.B.'s
[apologies to V-GER, as I just posted this at another forum]
So I'm watching the History Channel right now, which is running shows this morning focussed entirely on a single northern European mythological character. The last one was about Beowulf and this one is about Thor.
They just showed a shot of Thor fighting the giants and, I swear to Odin, one of the giants was wearing fucking corpsepaint!

Re: Those Norse S.O.B.'s
This is outstanding news. The people need to be told, and I'm glad the History Channel has done their research. I look forward to more hard-hitting journalism such as this.
Actually, I saw it a few nights ago. I have an obsession with History Channel. You are referring to the show called Clash of the Gods. I really love studying ancient history also. It was alright, they described Thor pretty well. I think it is only good though for someone that knows nothing about Norse mythology. The only other things about Norse mythology that they are doing is Beowulf and J.R.R. Tolkien's work, but they explain how it is not just Norse mythology, but Christianity, the crusades, WW2, and his childhood. Yeah, when they made one of the giants wear corpsepaint that kind of annoyed me, lol. The positive way you could look at it though is that Norse people > tr00 kvlt kids.

Speaking of the History channel, is anyone else watching this stupid "Vampire Secrets" show? It's fucking retarded and I've already seen it once, so clearly I'm part of the problem. But my favorite part is when they interview the "real" vampires: "I eat my steak rare and I hate the sun!" Yep, that's all the proof I need.
They've got shows coming up for an abominable snowman, the Real Wolfman, and other assorted Halloween-related topics. Didn't the History Channel used to have actual history on it, or did I just imagine that? Anyway I have to go, it's back from commercial...

I totally agree. I love the History Channel, but lately it is full of just crap. It is full of shows that have good ideas, theories, or stories, but never anything with any evidence. It is just stories people think they know. "Omg, we saw a Man Bear Pig, but it might have been a cat, we aren't sure."
Just give me something that is actually based off facts and not your making guess work of. I watch the History Channel to learn about history not to confuse myself about it even further.
Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to a slew of Mayan "prediction" shows. I actually saw a professor go, "Yeah, even the Mayans didn't believe that shit." Nice try, world.Spewtilator wrote: i think the same thing everytime monster quest or one of the religion or especially lately the "2012" armaggedon shows come on. so dumb

Um, that ManBearPig might be my brother-in-law. I'm waiting to see more non-grainy footage. Let me know if he has a limp or a can of Natty Light.Generubin wrote:I totally agree. Oh, lol, that was probably Don Henrie. He's a bit...odd.Diana wrote:Speaking of the History channel, is anyone else watching this stupid "Vampire Secrets" show? One of the "true" psychic vampires who often appears on those shows, Michelle Belanger, is really cool in person, though. (She's a guest at Dragon*Con every year, and an excellent speaker/panelist.)
